ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS A THREAT TO HUMANKIND

According to Wikipedia, Artificial intelligence (AI) is an intelligent behavior by machines, rather than the natural intelligence (NI) of humans and other animals. AI is a very complicated mixture of simple and complex sciences that creates a program wherein a machine imitates human’s ability, specifically the cognitive ability.

Researchers and programmers claim that the very importance of AI is to make the life of the humans easier. In my own personal opinion, such thing is a threat to humankind. I was actually scared when I heard the news about Sophia, the newest AI robot granted with citizenship in Saudi Arabia.

In today’s era, some people tend to give full trust to the technology despite the knowledge of danger it could bring. Machines are supposed to be used by humans. If this artificial intelligence will be accepted and used rampantly, the wheel might be turned to humans being used by machines. It may possibly dominate humans in the future! Yes, there may have its advantages but still it has greater risks specially when developed and used improperly and irresponsibly. Artificial intelligence when created and held by wrong hands may lead to a serious massive destruction.

So why is it a threat for my opinion?

We all know that machines do not exhibit real emotions and moral values. It can be programmed but in an impromptu scenario, it cannot make right judgments because it only knows what has been programmed to it. AI can’t even make decisions so if it is placed into an unfamiliar situation, it might breakdown and turn to a devastating and destructive one.

AI can be improved by program but not with experience. Unlike humans, we are more capable of learning different things even those that are not being taught because most of the time, we simply learn from our experiences.

Machines are very much unlikely to have concerns with other because it does not have feelings towards a certain thing. While human thoughts are guided with feelings that machine totally lacks. They cannot provide us with originality in terms of creating and designing something because human brain still has the authenticity of a creative mind. Our senses help our mind to think creatively and by that power, it makes us work effectively and efficiently. A chain reaction to this is when machines take over the work, people’s mind can be idle; hence humans will lose their creativity and will just depend on the machines. When that happens, humans might feel unimportant and it can lead to a negative use of minds. Instead of making something good with the AI, people might create havoc with the machines.

Aside from the above-mentioned reasons, I wan't to share you this video I have watched in Youtube. This might give support to my opinion that AI is indeed a threat to us humans.

Overall, I just want to state that our intelligence as a human is a gift and purely natural; it should be enhanced through different kinds of learning but should not be replicated specially to a robot or machine.
