Extreme Fishing Africa lady Angler is Sydney Wilkins from KZN! ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŸ

Sydney is relatively new to fishing but we can see she is going to show the guys how it's done. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Brief fishing history in her own words:

I didn't grow up fishing, as I didnโ€™t live anywhere near to the coastline, I grew up in Underberg which hardly had any fishing opportunities apart from some freshwater species such as trout and bass. I only started fishing 4 years ago when I moved to Durban.

I got hooked on fishing thanks to my boyfriend, Nikos Nicolaides. He has definitely taught me everything I needed to know about fishing and heโ€™s the reason I want to get better at this awesome sport!
Iโ€™m a very competitive woman in general so when he catches a good fish, I want to do even better.

The first weekend we spent together, he took me fishing in Durban harbour and the first fish I caught was a goat fish, after catching that fish I was hooked on fishing.
Now we do all kinds of fishing such as rock and surf, deep sea and from time to time, freshwater as well. Wherever there is water... we will be there!

I love fishing as you can appreciate nature and the marine life around me not to mention the feeling I get when fighting a fish which is unexplainable! The adrenaline and excitement that goes through my body is amazing and also the way each fish differs to each other, I learn something new everyday when it comes to fishing, how each fish prefers a certain bait and how sly some fish eat and how some are such dirty fighters compared to others.

In the beginning of the year I caught my personal best greenspot in Durban harbour and a beautiful rock salmon down the south coast, these two are definitely my greatest and proudest achievements in fishing.

To me, conservation is extremely important as we must think of the future generation, overfishing is not a positive thing for marine life due to all the pressure and thatโ€™s why handling fish properly and ensuring that they swim away strong to breed and fight another day, is so important to me.

I can not wait to wet another line and get stuck into some good fish!
