Student Loan Scam
There is a student loan scam going around where the victim, which in this case was me is sent an email telling me that my student loan has been flagged for forgiveness. I paid off my student loan decades ago, and the address in the email is not from the country where my loan was taken out.
I don't really know what happens next in the scam here. I suspect I will be asked for banking details, or that I send money to cover part of the loan.
So these are a couple of signs. If I had a student loan in the United States, then this email should still be seen with some suspicion. I probably should disregard all such emails.
Cryptocurrency Technical Support Scams
They will adopt the logo for Bitcoin Cash, and tell you to download a wallet but the link is to a program that looks like Trust Wallet but is a seed-phrase stealing software. When looking for wallets always use multiple sources, like a search Engine to find the real URLs.
Phony Cheque Scam
In this scam, you are offered a job, where you will buy gift-cards from a store, and send feedback of how you were treated at the store. You get a cheque before you pay so it seems safe but not so fast. The cheque is fake, when you deposit in an automated teller, the machine may not recognize the cheque as false, you'll get credit in your bank account and then later on you will lose that amount deposited and not only that, it is a legal hazard for the victim of the fraud
