My scam detector went wild when I happened so see this announcement: Steemit-Based Reality Game Announced: $10 million prize pool
10 million dollar prize pool? Ok... Where is that money coming from? No explanation.
Some guy is promising it while boasting how he has helped a lot of people make huge sums of money. So classic online get-rich-quick scammer style.
I've been teaching for years and I have several hundred successful students. Many have made more than six figures in just a few months. One star student even did $2 million in sales ONE DAY from the game I taught him.
Yes you really can make money by playing a game. If a newbie 71 year old grandma can do it, so can you.
On the high end, one "player" bought a $5 million Las Vegas penthouse from his game play.
Now come on, who can take this seriously?!
Then I check the comments. It all starts to make sense when I see old "friend" @michaelx aka @murderistic aka Michal Taggart in there, publicly announcing that he has been working with this guy.
@michaelx was involved in Banx, which somebody, who has been a long time in cryptoscene, might still remember. It was a pure ponzi scam but managed to be in top10 at coinmarketcap.com for a while.
I've written a couple of times about it:
The case of Banx & C-CEX
Banx was definitely a scam
And then I decided to google Matt Trainer. Interesting stuff pops up. Apparently he is a serial scammer, involved in different online and multilevel marketing schemes. He is even convicted to jail for some kind of mail fraud.
Conclusion
First and foremost: Don't give any money to people like Matt Trainer or Michael Taggart. You can be pretty sure that it won't be a good investment.
Be skeptical. If something sounds too good to be true, it usually isn't true. Especially when somebody is promising an easy way to make a lot of money.
Don't upvote scammers. Seriously, it sucks to see the Steem community giving them any profits.
I wouldn't give money to these guys. Had high hopes for Murderistic/Michael-x in BitShares and then again here, but those ideas never seem to go anywhere. At the very least, he has very questionable judgment in picking the people he partners with on these things. No, thank you.
Thanks for this info. Now, everyone tell the whales to remove their support for that trending article.
Doesn't feel great huh that we have to rely on a couple of rich guys and are completely powerless with 100s of us? Doesn't make any sense to make the bottom 99% completely powerless. Something needs to happen soon or SteemIt will never grow because people try it out and leave after a few weeks.
capitalism
I know , still the only way is to heckle people and get them to sell their shares, the problem is most of the good people are much more willing to give up
Dont give up! :)
oh I don't mind I haven't got much to lose, plus I already gave up a bit after dan and the experiment, but I took and break and I'm back giving up-votes :D
which reminds me, how is the whaleshares contest going, I have to check it again an do a revision on my entry and I haven't listened to your podcast :)
on giving up one person I miss is @krnel
I caught myself thinking, to give up but then I decided to focus on all the wonderful posts I read everyday.
:)
some music to go by with the endless steem stream :)
?t=365 so the third song, "You can't always get what you want" those crabs keeping us in :D
hahaha ! Good one!
I can't understand why most people can't see past these classic scams. One would imagine that eventually people get some skin in the game...
If it looks too good to be true, it always is hehe. Except for SteemIt, sort of :p
Well, in Steemit you have to work your ass off first, i know this the hard way.
yes, i remember well....your posts. and your caustic mouth.
Yeah but it usually pays more than Facebook on the first post, so it's not a scam ;)
The "my grandma made $7100 this month and so can you" ones are such obvious scams lol.
People fall for the same shit. over. and over. and over again
I work my arse off ....I don't know what you mean. Nothing comes easy
Same reason why people vote for presidents like Turd.
yeap
wish you could talk to Stan, he's currently blinded by diamond dust.
I have a lot of respect for Stan. He must really believe these guys have something special. Perhaps he's right, but their history is not encouraging.
This is exactly the case for me. I upvoted it because i trust stan and know he is trying to make big things happen for all of us...including steem. It is true that michaelx brings me back to the old Banx days...and if people recall inwould touch it or promote it with a 10 ft pole when it came out.
But i think everyone should watch what stan did out in hollywood. It was a great presentation.
This is not the first time. It should be very clear by now that cooperating with @michaelx never does any good for Bitshares but he just stubbornly keeps doing it.
I tried, failed after many attempts.
Thank you for trying. We cannot prevent others from sniffing toxic fantasy glue, but we can try and fail.
Exactly. With a $10m pool prize? With what money.. monopoly? It's a joke!
I appreciate your take on it. I thought it sounded interesting, so I went as far as resteeming it. My support of it was strongly influenced by @stan's comment in that post. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but I'll do so with caution and your thoughts in mind. I'm certainly not going to give them any money.
With all of you powers combined
I summon captain Abit!
It looks like @abit has upvoted it. Perhaps to counter the whale downvotes as part of the continuing Whale no voting experiment?
i think it was automatic. the post has been now nuked to oblivion
Agreed, that's what I meant :) An auto vote that counters the whale votes. Looks like it's almost down to zero $ now.
love this gif.
Well, it turns out that there may be more unsavory characters besides The Dollar trying to milk it here.
looks like we have a shit magnet
After interacting with Stan on that post in trending, i have to say, I am very disappointed with him. He appears to be completely blind and refuses to even look at Matt's past scams. He is not looking too trustworthy at the moment. check it out. it's the $10 million post on trending....UGLY
He is too deep right. Much like religion, he ain't gonna back up from his position. People rarely change their minds or admit their mistakes in the far of losing face. Yet, he demonstrated to have fallen in the same pitfall over and over again.
I flagged the darn thing. You know that I rarely flag..i think its my 3rd flag overall. all for DUH scams.
I decided to flag, even though I rarely do nowadays either. I stopped flagging Dollar after I saw his home enema and testosterone shot video......
This guy matt, though, seems really full of fake stuff....he just deleted his post....
thank you for the conversation and the laugh you got me to do :), come on aren't agenda driven people good for the environment :D they make it more interesting.
I think stan is shooting for the moon and really wants things to pick up, he's commited to his position and he's sure he can't make anything bad, which is a what preceeds a giant fuckup, I found his "lecture" interesting even if it was marketing speech, it was well presented, I'm not sure who the person next to him was, he also seemed reliable, I wish them well, but they are trying to bite more and harder stuff than they can chew, they are trying to outmarket facebook and become the new one, that never ends well, it's the same craze fb did with their shitty games and now we have stan trying to game the world, for it's betterment, it could go either way and it seems to risky to me, I like and respct what they are trying to do, it's just not the "natural" way at least doesn't seem like one. Still I'm not too sure what to think.
the enema is like self-flagging :'D
I sent a few flags Matt Trainer's way last night.
I wrote an in-depth post about how strange the stuff in his companies docs is: https://steemit.com/scam/@thekyle/potential-scam-mogul-your-invisible-empire-in-depth-look
https://steemit.com/steemit/@clevercreator/matt-trainer-isn-t-selling-a-game
Here you go :)
well u might enjoy this @samupaha:
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@chrisx/mogul-the-usd10m-dollar-reality-game-on-steemit-have-you-listen-to-their-webinar
A bunch of us were just talking about this today. A then a wild @clevercreator showed up (silly joke) -- but seriously, I am in the process of investigating because I do not want to see such a great community taken advantage of.
I was watching a video the other day, the gist of what I'm trying to say being, "A lie takes both people to work" so don't pitty someone, everyone who has a unreal perception of themselves can be manipulated, it's all smoke and mirrors, you want something, sure we can do it, we can own the world and make it better :) we sure will :D we only do good :) .. anyways words are used for both creation and destruction, and some people create their own destruction. I'm not sure what to think
Congratulations @samupaha!
Your post was mentioned in my hit parade in the following category:
Thanks for the warning. I saw this also, and even my newbie radar went wild. Steemit may be new to me, but I've seen enough con games like this one to pick up on them pretty quickly.
NO NO NO!!!! SCAMSTERS!!! FULL STEEM AHEAD!!!! 👍
https://steemit.com/news/@mrssignificant/fraud-or-reality
It makes me very happy to see that the Steemit community rallied and pretty much "shut it down" within 24 hours of the post going up. The rewards went UP... and then slid back to zero. I just hope nobody was parted from their money based on the smoke and mirrors promises.
I have said it before and I will say it again, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
I've been in the internet marketing scene since 2009, I've watched a lot of scammers promise the world to uneducated people, and in many cases, these uneducated people bought in to the scam, sometimes spending a lot of money.
Anyways I'm glad that people like you point out these scammers, so well done!
ha well I tend to wigh in towards the trust stan, but the developer's comments here don't bring any respect towards them, you have allegedly swindled people out of their money, pulling all the marketing leavers and pushing their buttons and instead of being a bit humble and holding a conversation, being at least a bit human, you act all arrogant, "well when we have the millions we just won't give any to you". So how is this different than the actions of any other "great" and "successful" individual, holding all their "secrets" never divulging anything, because well, your fuckups might show. I'm on to check the announcement on the 10mil game, and probably leave disappointed if i smell that scummy attitude.
It certainly sounds like scam if he throws around wit millions. If that thing (whatever it is, now deleted in the post) really is so good, you don't need those examples of anonymous people, just show it.
By the way I have a text here I have written 2 years ago, just had not the time to use it.
If you put in a few days of promotion on social networks, you will surely be a millionaire!!
Any interest? Just send 10'000 steem to me!
I got the same thoughts when i read the article!
Thank for your post, it gives me so much to think
Important information thanks
I am so glad you post this, I wanted to do something like this to warn steem community, but you have done it beautifully. way way better than I could have ever done.
Thank you for this post.
and I forgot to mention, I did attend the webinar last night that Matt Trainer held about this Mogul game, to get early access to it there is a 1 year mentorship program for $49,999. and if that's expensive for you then there is a second option for $9,999 (I have no idea what was included in that since I lost interest right after I saw $49,999) and than there was another option for $24,99.
And after that I just exited the webinar. hahaha
@cryptosif I did the same thing. SO pissed off that I lost almost two hours of my life to that.
If it looks like a fish, swims like a fish and smells like a fish - chances are it's a fish
Thanks for the update, am gonna stir away from those two👣👣👣👣
Nice work Detective Inspector @samupaha
nice....your post deserve my upvote and resteem....
Where is the scam dude?
there is no scam people are just cynical assholes.
Usually there is first hype and when people are pumped up, there is something really expensive to buy.
So far I see no scam, I can understand your concerns because all this may not sound "conventional/normal" and I have some reservations too, hype and something expensive doesn't make a scam, all crypto is a huge scam then.
[EDIT]
So far you did not post any proofs/explainations of the "scam"
I wrote the post before webinar so I didn't know what he was going to sell. I was waiting that it will be something like 100-1000 dollars to take part in the game, and there will be also some kind of MLM scheme. But apparently he is selling some kind of "I will teach you to play the game" packages which can cost 50000 dollars.
So it's pretty conventional informational product scam. First there is huge hype and then they sell overpriced learning experience for people so they can "learn how to be successful".
Schemes like this are common and normal. That's why it's so easy to see how the game will be played.
To sum up, you had no idea what you were talking about.
Is this 50000 dollars price a fact or is it another asumption of yours? not that it maters anyway, because this does NOT make something a "scam" , once again you have NO CLUE what you are talking about and you have no idea about the game the rules or whatever was going to hapen.
[Question]
If I charged people $200 to teach them how to use bitcoin steem or bitshares would I be a scamer too? If Antonopoulos(or any other "famous" figure) charged people $10000 to teach companies or indivinduals "blockchain stuff" would he be a "scammer" too?
Something sketchy for sure "GoToWebinar Opener.exe". Pass!
I'll be looking at this closely and try to make a better idea of it.
please help remove support from the trending article. this does not look good at all.
this post just flew past the scam one.....ha Steemit doesn't lie.
Blockchain ain't easy place for scammers. :)
thanks for all your information. I was late in getting to steemit so I appreciate the info
Thanks for putting this together!
this one is interesting, upvoted
feel free to watch the video
Ok explain me now how it comes reputable members like @stan (Father of Daniel Larimer and HERO project founder) to support them?
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@matttrainer/steemit-based-reality-game-announced-usd10-million-prize-pool#@stan/re-matttrainer-steemit-based-reality-game-announced-usd10-million-prize-pool-20170604t183247885z
@stan seems to be very easily deceived by these kind of scammers. This is not the first time.
@stan is losing his reputation every time he openly supports projects like this.
I just wanted you to know that I have also warned stan about these things and have been doing so for years.
Thank you for the consideration. Hype can get the best of us. I will leave a video for you, since it's good to know why we let ourselves get lied to :)
How to spot a liar | Pamela Meyer
I tried remittio.com and its from stan, taggart and xeroc. It doesnt work and nobody replied to my support ticket since 2 weeks.
Somehow I'm not surprised.
Hello I'm new in steemit, I'm following you, so I read all the stuff I like, so I chose it. Unfortunately, my little voice is not worthy of you. I have tried to distract myself to see if I am getting a bit of a charm. Hmmm one shows $ 3.50 and one today has reached $ 9 maybe we need to understand our audience here. Look at them as consumers. What are they starving Maybe, I keep trying new corners.
Completely agree. Sounds like the a ponzi scheme.
Thanks for your post. Even I too have made a post on scams a while ago..
Don't trust Fake games and Ponzi schemes
Take look at it
A while ago?
can you be more specific on what are you trying to ask exactly...
Steemit based without Steem knowing lol
Thanks for warning us and doing some research. Its a very helpfull information.
Didn't get a chance to see the webinar live, but when I returned home later and saw their meeting, it flashed up to a screen saying "Earn 10,000 for a 2,300~ initial pay".
Looks identical to an MLM to me just from that one screen. Sorry if you guys are legit, but this really gets my bells ringing.
I followed the webinar yesteday but did not really understand the value proposition. So many things mix together. Trying to find a link between them. I do believe Steem can be integrated into games and VR that anyone can play, but stilll can connect the dot. Did not understand the idea of paying 2400$. It's good to follow it and see how it goes. Even if it's for educational purpose in the crypto space. Remember, Blockchain don't lie. The project can boost Bitshares if the announce KamarKoin is back by BTS, not Gold underground. We are in the digital age and we have tool to own digital gold in bitshares. It's Called Smartcoin or MPA (bitGold, bitSilver, Hero, Bit20), I prefer crypto that are being peg to Bitshares. To be follow!
What I find a real shame, that he has already made over 1000 Steem from his post before the scam has even taken place. Guys I googled him after his post, assuming his "game" was a casino or gambling type thing but no, its a scam!
He didn't make any money. The Steem community gave him enough downvotes to make his payout zero. It takes a week to get the payout and until that everybody else has a chance to downvote if there is need. This time everything went well, the scammer didn't make anything and lost his reputation because he got so many downvotes.
Wow I did see that.
Thank you for letting people know of this... I hate scammers and liars so f***ing much.
Thanks for exposing them and this scheme.
Good Looking Out @samupaha
You have been PROMOTED FREE for using the "warning" TAG (hashtag)

Thanks for the Info Bro!
Spectacular friend excellent post very good this information for the whole community congratulations @samupaha
Why is it that everywhere I see the name matt trainer, I also see a discussion like this? Always something was fishy. What an "internet marketing super hero"
Whoa, that’s a trip! 👀😳
