The athlete told the New York Times that he does not consider his $ 8 million property as a monument to success. Instead, he considers it a sanctuary of his painful memories of a childhood full of poverty and abuse. The young man is looking for something much deeper than luxury and entertainment. "I have to find my peace," he said.
We all know how it feels to be distressed. When the present is discouraging and the past brings us unsettling memories, where can we go in search of liberation? Who can we turn to for comfort and peace?
The psalmist wrote: "Help me and deliver me in Your justice; tilt your ear and save me. I know for myself a rock of refuge, where I continually recur »(Psalm 71: 2-3). God was their hope, their trust and their refuge in the storms of life (verses 5-8).
The poem by E. May Grimes captures that biblical concept:
A little sanctuary is You for me,
Oh, beloved Jesus Christ, with you alive,
My heart has found its eternal home,
His safe abode wherever I have to wander.
Very few people can afford a mansion, but anyone who knows the Lord can find refuge and peace in His eternal presence.
