My husband and I usually don’t celebrate Valentine‘s day. Maybe one day our children are older and we go out on dates again.
But I found this Valentine‘s Day Contest by @cryptogenious and felt like I had a story to share.
My husband and I met in 2012. I was not ready to fall in love with someone at this point because all I wanted was leaving Germany and make my way to Canada. But love didn’t care much about my plans and so it kind of hit me when I met @b-art.photo . We went out for dates and I couldn’t really tell whether this was something serious or not. I told him about my wish to go to Canada and he decided to come with me. So we went trough a visa application process that was long and exhausting. But finally we booked our flights - one way! But we had to be patient for a few months and this was when our love was tested!
We had a lot of fights because of silly things. I just couldn’t deal with our weekend relationship as he lived a few hours away from me. And I wanted to leave Germany and also leave my past behind as soon as possible. He stilled lived at his parents house and it was the first really big journey of his life. I felt like there were too many people trying to tell us what to do and what not to do, so only a few weeks before we flew out to Vancouver we almost went separate ways. Every day was a fight and we both felt like we lost love somewhere along the way.
But on August 19th of 2013 - it was our anniversary too - we boarded on our Condor flight to Vancouver and the excitement about this wonderful adventure brought back love to us. The moment the aircraft took off we felt free and positive and we had the most wonderful time of our life together. In Canada we moved into our first apartment together. We worked together at a Canadian company. All the stress and the negativity of the past months was gone and we experienced a life together I have always dreamed of.
I am 100% sure that we wouldn’t be where we are today without our great Canadian adventure!
