water_connection.gif The Drought Management Act was signed into law in July 2008. The law expands the ability of the governor and local communities to respond when drought conditions worsen and encourages greater planning, conservation and cooperation.

North Carolina's continued growth coupled with changing weather patterns leave us vulnerable to more serious droughts in the future. In order to preserve our economic health and quality of life, North Carolinians are encouraged to continue the water efficiency habits adopted during 2007-2008, to help with any future deficits the state may face.

This website is designed to help North Carolinians learn to use water more efficiently at work, at home, at school and in their communities. To see if your community is currently in a drought, or to learn more about water efficiency, click on the links at left, or go to our water efficiency webinar page.
