A scurry of footsteps sounded against the oak planks of the French vessel as the three groups moved out. Cockpit Officer Ironshield and his men quickly ran up the bridge stairs and began check every possible hiding place…

“We are on the right track!” Able Seaman Lupega said as he checked behind the ship’s wheel housing.

[On the French Corvette...]

Commander Galligan led the group of seven cautiously down the main galley stairs. Other than the slow creaking noise of the vessel is it swayed in the waves, not a sound was heard.

Reaching the lower gun deck, he lit two small oil lamps and waved four of the men towards the bow while he and two others made their way towards the stern. Slowly opening every door along the way, they cleared every compartment.

[One deck below…sail room…]

“They’re right fockin’ on top of us…” Ripper whispered as he cocked his head and listened carefully.
“Whatia we do boss?!” Rank asked in a panic.
“Cock yer guns and keep ‘em pointed at that door! No body shoots unless you hear my gun fire first! Now keep quiet!”

Rank took a deep breath and cocked his musket hammer with clammy hands as Stank and Fard did the same. In the silence of the sail room they could almost hear their hearts pounding.

[Lower gun deck…]

As Galligan’s group cleared the Corvette’s ‘Great Cabin’, he headed back towards the middle of the ship where he met up with Commander Kerrislravenhill and her men…

“Anythin'?” He asked quietly.

“Naethin' at aw Sairrr.”

“Alright, doon tae th' lower hauld 'en. Keep ye whits aboot ye!”
“Aye, Ahh willnae forgit tae wear mah lucky charm!” She jested briefly.

The stairwell got darker with every step they descended. One, two, three, four-turn, one, two, three, four... At the lower hull corridor, Galligan divided the group as before and the search continued.

[On the Silverton…Bridge deck…]

The captain held the longscope steady on the French Corvette. Only one longboat was seen, tethered to the starboard side of the vessel. Finally lowering his scope he turned to Lieutenant Trumpman.

“Nae gunfire yet…a guid sign...”
“Aye Sairrr. Dae ye think thaur ur pirates oan 'er?”

“Ahh knows thaur ur pirates oan 'er…” The Captain replied matter of factly as he lit his pipe and stoked the bowl of tobacco red-hot, “An' Ahh wants ‘em captured…ur deid.”

Trumpman swallowed hard as he gazed out across the dark waters. Pirates were dangerous business.
