Aug. 23, 1927 in Boston USA Bartolomeo Vanzetti (Villafalletto, June 11, 1888 - Charlestown, Aug. 23, 1927) and Ferdinando Nicola Sacco (Torremaggiore, April 22, 1891 - Charlestown, Aug. 23, 1927) were executed by electric chair, their guilt that of being workers, Italians and anarchists. On August 23, 1977, exactly 50 years after the execution, Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis issued a proclamation absolving the two men of the crime.
