Davos - Bitcoin dimwits - Theresa May and Christine Lagarde

At their meeting in Davos World Economic Forum Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, said that the anonymity of bitcoins allows you to move hidden funds.

Clearly she is not as bright as I first thought. Transactions are not hidden when you buy Bitcoin. It is an open source ledger. That is why law enforcement officials have caught so many crooks using Bitcoin. (Silk Road). No self-respecting drug lord would use anything but Monero or any one a dozen other privacy coins.

Lagarde predicted that national governments are likely to additionally regulate crypto-currencies to prevent these use cases. Er what about the $? It is not like Bitcoin invented drugs and prostitution. The $ has been doing a good trade in that area for a long while - helped by the banks.

So might I suggest she start by arresting everyone at Deutsche bank who were find $630 million for money laundering $10 Billion for the Russian oligarch / mafia. Ah But wait. That's the only bank who would loan Trump any money as he was such a lousy credit risk.

But no worries Theresa May is on the case. She told Bloomberg that crypto currency terminals should be viewed because of how they are used "especially by criminals".

Really! I can't see someone at Kings Cross Station feeding in £10 billion in £20 notes to convert to Bitcoin.

As nations our futures are as bright as our leaders. You might want to put away the shades.

Thanks for responding Laura. I am never convinced time ever does bring us the truth. In the same way I don't believe natural justice exists. It is a nice idea but sadly it doesn't exist and wishing it so don't make it so. Right seldom prevails as few can agree on what is 'right'.

I suspect you are right. In fact pick any leader over the past 30 years and they would have done something. Now it is all and only brexit - there is a world beyond
