In the Soviet Union it was mandatory for all the students to wear uniforms in school. Such policy was abandoned with the fall of the regime but. The idea was simple, as being part of school and Russian culture at the time, a uniform creates a more unified community and further reduces the sense of social difference.

Many people still belive that uniforms should return and be mandatory, others disagree. At this moment each school decides if students have to wear uniforms.

In Portuguese we say: uniforme

In Russian we say: униформа (uniforma)

Did you have to wear an uniform in school growing up?
