So we're another week closer to that dreaded 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles). I shouldn't really use the word dreaded because actually I'm really looking forward to it. Its funny that the thought of actually getting "out there" sends shivers down my spine, but once I'm out, I really enjoy the run. It's just me and those voices in my head and we get along just fine......
So let's see what I got up to this last week. Its been 8 days since my last update, so I have a few runs to show off:
2 new "achievements"!! The strava app let's you know whenever you've achieved a new PB, well technically it let's you know if you've gotten a 1st, 2nd or 3rd fastest time. Well on that day I managed to clock in my 3rd fastest split on a certain section of the run.
This circuit is incredibly hilly and I was motoring a little. It was my 3rd fastest time on this route and my 3rd fastest split on a steep incline part.
A short, sharp, 2 mile jog. The weather was exceptionally hot and my body definitely felt like it went out that day. The time was surprisingly good and a clear 45 seconds per mile under what I need to be running.
It's now been over a week since I took my new diet seriously. At this point I hadn't stepped on the scales so didn't really know what I'd lost. It still doesn't feel like I've lost any weight, but my time for this run (min per mile) and the fact I felt amazing finishing, suggests its a few pounds. I definitely found it earlier.
So this was yesterday's run (Tuesday) and although Mondays run was fast, I felt good enough to make it out again. A very comfortable 3 miles and still loads left in the tank.
I'm having a day off today, to give my poor knees a break. The plan is to get a nice 5 miler done tomorrow. I'm not expecting tomorrow's run to be fast, but I'd like to see a steady pace maintained.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm keeping my weight loss a secret for now, but will reveal how I'm getting on in a monthly review at the end of the month.
Times are looking better and better bro! Keep up the hard work, it will all be worth it when you cross that half marathon finish line :0)
Thanks @moderndayhippie. Looking back through my old times is what keeps me motivated. You don't notice the seconds you're shaving off till you realise it's now 1 minute quicker per mile!! I've surprised myself.
