What is a Virtual Run?

in #running3 years ago

A virtual run is mostly referred to as when you run on a treadmill with a screen in front of you. The screen shows a video of someone who’s filmed a run in a POV perspective. This way, you’ll feel like you’re running outside too.

How do I do a Virtual Run?

If you have access to a treadmill, that’s great. But some people are also running on the floor, standing still. The key is to have a screen or device to watch the virtual run video on while running. You can use a TV, PC monitor, laptop, iPad, smartphone, or any other device.

Why use Virtual Running Videos?

The main point is to use the virtual running videos as motivation. It’s easier to get carried away when watching a video, you’ll get the feeling that you’re actually outside running. You also get to experience new locations, trails, mountains, and beautiful nature scenery from other parts of the world.

Where do I find Virtual Running Videos?

Take a look at a virtual run channel that contains many virtual running videos filmed in Norway. Beautiful nature scenery will help you to get on the treadmill and start running, https://www.youtube.com/c/virtualruntv

Good luck, and keep running!

I think it's just a matter of time until we see wrap around screens for treadmills and simulations that play as you jog. Choices like "city", "forest", "mountains", "lake", etc.

@the-bitcoin-dood that would be awesome!

When i'm running on a treadmill those screens give me more stress. I just try to listen to music if i'm on a treadmill.

I listen to music as well, but just staring at the wall get's too boring for me. These videos tricks ny brain to think I'm actually outside on the road/trail 😊
