I've got two different entries for this post today.
The first is my entry into Fifty Word Challenge for the Week + Mini Writing Workshop hosted by @jayna.
The second in for VDUX's Royal Haiku Contest hosted by @vdux. For this one, I posted several entries because they are fun to do.
I laid down straight as a board in the fresh powder. Spreading my arms and legs like I'm doing jumping-jacks, I created a snow angel.
Fresh snowflakes touched down on my warm face and melted. What a joy it was to be a kid.
Mom called, saying dinner was ready.
I'm royalty - you are not
You'll get over it.
Purple robes seamlessly dance -
Last of the grape vine
Upon a decaying head -
Sword, poison and meat
Cloth of Tyrian purple
Caesar's royal rounds

Tools:
- The Most Dangerous Writing App - This program keeps me from getting to bogged down with what I think is the perfect way. It forces me to keep writing no matter what comes to mind.
- Grammarly - I use this app all the time to catch my mistakes. If I didn't have a spell checker, you would be lost in my world. haha!
- Hemmingway App: Another useful tool to help you make your writing more clear, comprehensive, and easier to understand.
- Steem World: After the @ symbol, enter your name or anyone elses name to see a host of information regarding what is going on with an account.
- List of 21 sites. Photos that you can use freely in your blog posts.
twenty-four hour short story - You gotta be quick to get this one posted in time. He posts the contest on Sunday (usually) and ends it about 48 hours later. This contest has a 2000 word limit.
Finish the Story Contest - The contest begins on Wednesday (usually) and end 5 days later. This contest will test your write skills with something a little different each week. Pletty of time to write something around the 500 word mark.
Steem Monsters Common Card Fantasy Story Contest! - Coming out roughly every week. If you enjoy card games like Magic, Yugio, and others like it, you might like this game. Write a fictional tale about the card they present in the contest and your entry just might be the one they choose to showcase.
Tell A Story To Me, And Win 5 SBD! Writing Contest - Kind of random when it comes out but don't worry. You will have two weeks to complete your work of art from the given prompt. Have fun!
Haiku - These are coming out every couple days or so. If you stuggle with rhymes, no worries. Haikus don't have to rhyme. All you need to make a haiku is five syllable on the first, seven syllables in the second line, and again back to five syllable for the last line. So easy it makes me think I'm being super product. LOL
Mizu No Oto - Every Image Has Its Haiku Contest - By reading the title, you should be able to guess how this haiku contest works. You're given an image and you write. I've really enjoy this contest because there are people here who've actually gone to classes to learn how to write haiku's; so if you want, you also can learn how to write quality haikus from reading the comments and critiques they and others give.
50-word Challenge - This is an interesting challenge and very challenging to say the least. You only get fifty words to tell a story or a vignettes. Here is a great post that will explain the difference between the two concepts. Good luck, Brave Story Writer!
Vocab-Ability 1x1 - What happens is you are given a list of roots and the words they can be found in. You create sentence using those words and post in the comment section of the post. Your upvote for your creative work will come soon. One of the best way to increase your vocabulary is by doing these 10-15 minute exercises almost daily. What craziness will you create?

Nice job on the mizo! I see you have three haikus for my contest...TRIPLE DELIGHT!
Thanks. I got it by popular vote. They are tough to acquire.
I had to add another. You'll snail reference to the making of dye interested me enough to look for myself.
I love your snow angel story! So sweet. It takes me right back to childhood!
By that you mean you grew up in or around the snow?
I was in CO for most of my childhood in the small mountain towns. We moved around a lot.
Yes, with the exception of 15 years in California, I have always lived where there is snow in winter: the Pacific Northwest, the Northeast, and now the Midwest.
I love the haiku...first best for its audacity and the third for its political commentary.
Snow Angels captures innocence, though I don't think I ever felt that "joy to be a kid"....I did feel peace though, as a child, when I was alone and there was snow all around.
I think being in the snow away from mother was the times I'd feel some joy. Snow days were fun, for the most part, for me.
I lived in CO in my childhood. Mostly small mountain towns is where we were. You?
Hudson Valley, NY, when I was a young child. My mother was good, very good, but it wasn't an easy childhood. Things kind of out of control, all around. Snow as great fun. My brothers would make tunnels, it was so deep. It's nice that you remember joy.
I won't say my mother is a horrible person. I'll say her unconscious actions have caused a lot of damage.
I remember sledding as one of my favorite activities.
I lived in Manhattan for one year. I dressed up as Edward Scissorhands and did street performing.
I love that anecdote about Edward Scissorhands. One of my favorite characters. Kind of a tragic role model for you as a young person, though.
My daughter did street performing, as a break dancer. Later, went on to become a professional dancer.
I used to love scaring people! haha!!! Kid's where always scared of me until I learned to change my face to better match theirs.
Do you have a video for her?
I actually do have one. I'll ask permission to share it.
Liked to scare people !! Now you can do it with your stories :)
I'm in my thirties and still love making snow angles. LOL.
Good Job
8-) awesome
