Drunk Beneath the Stars [Romance Short Story] [Part 1]

The wind blew loudly above Kazou as his slow stroll came to a halt. He looked around, studying the foliage. He was quite familiar with the forest, being trained in the arts of North American Forestry. Slowly walking to edge of the path, he started to notice the typical plants one would find in a forest like this one. Dandelions and tulips littered the side of the road, but a magenta flash quickly caught his eye. Could it be? He ran off the path and into the forest, pushing leaves and pine branches out of the way until he saw it.
“Wow!”, Kazou exclaimed, “It’s a Hibiscus flower. How rare!” Petting its petals gently, Kazou felt the sweet fragrance of the Hibiscus nectar enter his nostrils and it left a sensation that was almost addictive in nature. Cheryl would love them.

With his excitement of the extraordinary find dying down, Kazou’s head turned and his eyes looked up. For the first time in the last few hours, the wind had finally stopped raging. Kazou frowned.
“Wasn’t the windstorm supposed to last until morning?” he muttered to himself. “Oh well” He turned his head back to the flowers, still enthusiastic about his find.
“Who cares about some windstorm anyways… hmm?”
Looking back at the flowers brought another, more peculiar thing to his eyes. Kazou squatted down for a closer look and frowned
Footprints…
Suddenly, Kazou shivered. What was that?, he pondered, It’s May! Why am I shivering? He continued to study the animal tracks. They don’t seem to belong to any fox or rabbits that I’ve seen… what is this?
His eyes widened, and he slowly turned his head. Once again, he looked at the direction that took him to his beloved flowers. Unconsciously opening his mouth and further widening his ocular senses, he found something else to entertain his eyes upon.
A pair of reflective eyes staring back.

Kazou Shiori stepped off the bus with his suitcase and breathed in the warm, moist air of Wyoming. The scent of the outdoors rushed up his nose and brought him great delight. This is how air should smell like, he thought with glee, I love it. I studied plants partly because I wanted to live outdoors. He was going to love what was to come even more. An ecstatic shriek made his head turn.
“Shio!!” squealed Cheryl as she ran to give Kazou a hug. Smiling back, he returned the embrace. He felt her hot lips touch his cheek as his arms went around her slender waist.
“Hey,” he replied, “How’s it been?”

TO BE CONT.
