I recently purchased the Røde Videomic Me to pair with the phone I am using as a combination camera (16mp front-facing) and script prompter, so that the audio would hopefully be up to par with the impressive quality of the camera.
Overall, I have to say I am impressed, and satisfied with the purchase price. The build is high quality and sturdy, something I expect would be commonplace among the products of a company such as Røde, though that is speculative, as this is the first I have owned.
The microphone is easy to use, couldn't be simpler. Plug it into the headphone jack of a smartphone (it may also work with laptops, i do intend to test that at some point) facing either forwards or backwards - for my purposes I have it backwards, filming a third party or event you would face it forwards, in the same direction as the main camera. Then simply slide the hard rubber bracket piece along the body until it clamps the phone. This is the intended mounting method at least, personally I found the microphone mounted so securely that the bracket was a little superfluous.
Anyway, my only minor gripe with the microphone is that I found it to have a slight, slight, slight metallic sound, but to be honest, to have a microphone that does such a good job that this really is a minor issue, which may have been just as much a product of the recording conditions as the mic itself.
Overall, highly pleased!

Good review, nice product wish to get one.
It looks like it is pretty directional. Is that correct? Great review. I might give one of these a closer look after reading your write up. If it is directional does it isolate the target pretty good or do you still get a lot of ambient pickup from around it?
My experience is that it is directional, and that appears to be what it is designed for. Although I have only used it in very quiet environments, to me appears to be excellent at eliminating ambient noise. I forgot to mention that the rear of it also has a 3.5mm jack to allow you to listen to what the mic is picking up
Very nice! This thing looks really cool. Thanks again for the great write-up. I probably never would have known this existed if I hadn't read your post!
ABN could use one!
Let me see if I can make the funds available, If so I will provide ;)
That is pretty cool!
