What's pleasant day I had yesterday, and it was unexpected, which made it even nicer!
I drove down to deliver more furniture to my daughter but instead of taking my normal (and the shortest) route, which is west on hiway 84 then south on the 5 freeway, I took the scenic route, south on the 97 then west over the Cascade mountains to her town.
The route nearly doubled the three hour drive, but it took me through places I've never been, and was worth every minute!
The first part of the trip took me through the farmlands of north central Oregon, which, near me, is mostly a wheat growing region.
That's Mt Hood in the distance, seen from an angle I don't normally see it from. Here's the full picture I took that from for perspective.
The route took me as far south as Redmond, where I turned west and shortly came upon the town of Sisters.
Sisters is a super cute little resort town that's popular year round. In the summer, we'll, because it's summer. It's also popular in winter, as it's at the base of Cascades with lots of skiing and winter sports around.
From here I kept heading east, over the Mckenzie pass.
This was absolutely amazing. I stopped at a couple places and took tons of pictures. This part of the trip really deserves it's own post, but for now I'll give you a #preview
I finally arrived at my daughters place. We went downtown, had some pizza, I bought a record in a used record store then we ended up going to a comedy club!
My oldest turned 21 the summer so it was a great pleasure to take her to her first comedy show! We saw someone I've not heard of, Annie Ledermann, and she was so damn funny!
I stayed the night at my daughters house, on that same futon I brought down a week ago 😂
It's 8am now and I think it's time to wander the streets and look for coffee. It's okay though, I'm in the pacific northwest, where coffee is always just around the corner!

You gotta love that scenery along the way, what a nice trip. Taking the scenic view is always more fun! Plus you get to see your daughter. Win/win!
