RE: Let's Create a Steem Community Roadmap (Discussion)

in #roadmap7 years ago (edited)

I would like to see more work done on the basics before getting too fancy.

  1. Easy, fast signup. This is the 21st century, people want instant gratification, a 12 hours + wait is just not going to cut it no matter how good the reasons may be.

  2. Decent search and/or subreddit type groupings, no matter how much some people like to think otherwise the cream does not rise to the top here. Separating the content from the bull is difficult.

  3. Decent filtering for the "feed" page. At the moment it's pretty binary, you follow someone and see everything they post and all the resteems or you don't and see nothing.

  4. Something....anything to put a stop to the childish flag wars. Whales shouldn't be able to flag people to oblivion and users shouldn't be able to get a massive percentage of the total reward pool. I have suggested a diminishing returns model elsewhere but hell....anything has to be better than the current algorithm. Fix this or steem will be replaced by something better.

Are these things you think the community can tackle?

Well if the community don't tackle them who will? I assume 1 - 3 are controlled by @ned and co. as they relate to the steemit UI but arn't changes to the block chain itself decided by the witnesses?

Witnesses vote on whether to accept a hardfork.

The ideas you suggested aren’t bad, but the real intention of the post was to gather ideas on what we as the community can do to make the platform better.
