I saw a post on a forum that I'm guessing was from a younger trader who wanted the price of ripple to stop bouncing around so much and this was my response, my name is the same there so won't be hard to find lol. I've added to this version.
My reply and advice.
The patient man drives a brand new ride, the impatient drives the same bucket of shit your driving now. This is one of those moments that could define the rest of your life. Choose wisely.. You have 2 options.
#1 Step back and take a breather, turn off the computer, don't check it on the phone, go to bed. Wake up tomorrow, maybe it dropped and you don't have as much... SO WHAT? You still have your coins, ALL of them. You didn't lose money in transactions fees. You're not adding another spot for you to get taxed.. better look at capital gains and understand the difference in holding for 1 year (long term gains) and short term gains being less than a year.. HUGE difference in Sam's cut. You are in this for Gains so make them good.. HOLD. FORGET about this for 1 year. Don't piss your coins away with dumb trades.
#2 Sell, watch it rise without you.. end up chasing a rising price.. fewer coins.. bigger tax burden.. .LESS PROFIT! A life of regret always thinking about the "if I would have done this I could be doing this.. my life would be this.... bla bla bla" Life gives us enough to regret.. don't add to it.
Unless you're a master day trader that's playing the hi/low game these are your options. Plain and simple. For buy and holders if Sell now you will regret it. And this applies to all your coins and/or stocks you may own that are doing what ripple is doing right now, running like mad and have, (THIS is important) that have this kind of potential. If you've done your DD you have a plan you should be prepared to hold for 1 year anyways. ADD the rule to your DD check list to ask the question can I hold this one year? AND not worry about it. IF you can't answer yes to that why the hell are you buying it?
Just a side note: I was going to do my next blog entry on DD but I thought about it and one has to understand the tools they will be using in order to make trades before DD is going to do much good. By learning the software this is actually very much related to DD. The software gives you almost everything you need to know. And will point you in the proper DD direction if you know and understand all the numbers and stuff on the pages of your accounts. So I'll be doing an overview with details without writing a book. Or I'll try anyways to keep it somewhat short. Pretty sure I could write at least a book or two by now.
Happy New Year all.
These are good advise. Looking forward to reading more of these.
I do hope you don't get burned up with the low rewards you get with the upvote. Continue to be the expert that you are and followers and upvoters will soon be here to boost your earnings. Wish you success and looking forward to more of your content especially the trades stuff!
Thank you. I am not overly concerned about the earnings here. I do hope to get more followers and in time I think I will. Perhaps this can become a good source of income perhaps it won't. I'm here to hopefully help people navigate through trading and making money. If I can help even just one person then all I write is worth it.
This was one of the biggest hurdles for me as a new crypto investor. The HOLDING. I mad many an unnecessary trade (some at a loss) when I first got into cryptocurrency. Thankfully I've now learned how to hold my s**t while my coins bounce around in price. I do still check the price daily but I no longer get nervous when it drops OR rises. Looking forward to you due diligence post.
Also, check out a guy called @taskmaster4450. This guy is doing some serious DD on the steem blockchain and he lays it out in a way even I understand most of the time. Anyhow, all the best in 2018!!
Thanks for the tip and it sounds like you're in good spot in your trading career. Takes a long time to be able to just sit and watch ones balance swing 10k. At the point where you'll really start to make money. Keep it up.
