The issue here is that people recently reported that they lost their XRP after generating their secret key on the Minimalist Ripple Wallet using IOS or Mac on a Safari browser. When they checked if their secret keys match the public keys, put their secret into the client and pressed "set identity", a different key showed up other than the one they had written down. They tried it multiple times and multiple different keys showed up. They lost their investments because they sent XRP to an address they never even had a secret key for. The secret key given to them by the client does match a different address, not the one that showed up with it in the client when it generated the pair.
However, by using Chrome, or the Minimalist Ripple Wallet code on Firefox, there is no problem generating an ID.
To see the original posts: Secret Key doesn't match public key and Never use Minimalist-Ripple-Wallet on IOS. I lost my xrp.
Note: Many have used the minimalist client for years without issue, even very recently to move funds between cold wallets and the wallet is fine and secure but clearly it's not working correctly with Safari and IOS. So, it's always a good idea to test your generated wallet at least once.
