If I would have been asked 1 month ago about my favourite TV shows, I would have definitely said Rick and Morty as the top one, with Westworld and Black Mirror. Rick and Morty was great. I have enjoyed a lot the first two seasons, but the season 3 has became darker. Much darker. They even say it at the end of season 3 episode 1.
Personally, I have to say that I don't agree with the new direction of the show. I find the new season atrocious, focussing most of the time on unnecessary deaths. Although it has always been a "dark" show, with plenty of violence and Rick caring nothing about anybody, Rick and Morty got my attention because of all the sci-fi gadgets and it makes you think about morality and ethics.
However, now the show is being excessively aggressive, under my point of view. The last episode was basically pickle Rick killing everything he found. I have to recognise that I still have fun watching the show, but I would rather prefer to see more crazy inventions and psychological dilemmas than so much killing. I also laugh at some of their dark jokes sometimes, but to an extent.
What do you think? Did you enjoy the last episodes or you prefer season 1 or 2?
I definitely enjoyed the last two seasons more than this one, so far, but I still wouldn't say it's bad.
