My current thoughts of SplinterLands

in #review4 years ago (edited)

Hello Everyone,

It has been almost a month that I started to play splinterlands and I am figuring out stuff slowly but I want to share my experience of this month so that developers can find some hints (or I poke the hints into their eyes 😆) or old players can remember and comment how was their first month in splinterland.

First of all, I found the splinterlands by accident when I heard about the kitty crash of the etherium network. I thought there must be a more sensible crypto game than kitties😺 out there. Therefore I find the spinterlands and I want to check it out since I used to play magic & gatherings when I was in college.

I started slowly since I was wondering how much I should trust this hive-engine thing (where there is a token called porn WTF?!) then I check who is the founder what he has done before and realized he has a Ph.D. in chemistry funny enough I do have one too then with simple logic I started to think this might be a legit game. Then the first land sale event exploded, I wanted to buy a plot but all I saw was a loading screen and then the sold-out screen in 2 secs in a row. I discovered in the discord chat that I was not the only one. the thing that surprised me the most is that the admins actually listened with great patience and they are making a more fair sale by introducing lottery to all players. That was the moment I said ok these guys are at least worth to trust they are learning from their bad experiences.

Even though I am working home office during this covid pandemic, I am trying to read as much about splinterlands, hive-engine, peakd, peakmonster and all. The more I find these things the more I realize there is no integrity, the info, and the sites are all scattered. My 2 cents to developers, splinterlands website should be the main site. Everything else should be accessible from there. For example, there might be a welcome screen (not like the current one) having all related news, uptodate, links to all related sites (such as peakmonster, peakd, hive engine, hiveblog, or any other I still could not find) that community should be aware of (ooo yes there is also RC crap, it should be there next to the capture rate). If you ever played LOL you would understand what I mean when you see their client user interface and the way they layout their stuff. Presentation and the manners are very important😚.

I can tell the things are done and spread away. The main concern was most probably to get it done, but I think now is time to polish what is out there to bring everything to one site and provide a better userinterface and user experience.

Overall though I can tell there is a huge effort here and that is why I am sticking at the moment. Good job to the developers, and expecting more and more from just 1 month of experince ....😉
