Kobe University of Pharmaceutical Sciences announced that it found a gene that regulates the action of insulin that suppresses sugar in the blood with mouse. It is expected to be applied to the treatment of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, and the research team confirms whether human can obtain the same results as mouse. The research team focuses on molecules that appear more in normal fat cells and decrease in obesity. The fact that the molecule created by the gene "Fam13a" which appears more frequently in mouse and human adipocytes binds to the molecule directly under the receptor which accepts insulin on the surface of the cell and maintains the signal of insulin normally transmitted to the cell discovered.

When fattening mice without this gene, the efficacy of insulin worsened and blood glucose level rose. Mice with many genes worked well for insulin even though they became obese, and the rise in blood glucose level was suppressed.
