Life as a kids club rep

in #replife3 years ago (edited)

Hey guys, happy Monday and welcome back 💛
A little about more about my life and the path I took that was everything.
When I was 18 I knew I wanted to travel and that I did. My first steps into a great life as I knew it. I applied for a company to work for called JCA (junior choice adventure, UK based) - the training course was 3 weeks long in a place called Shrewsbury, Shropshire. I packed my bags and I was ready to go. One suitcase and one rucksack later I found myself standing in a beautiful mansion ready to start this chapter.
We trained in body zorbs, high ropes, climbing wall and all sorts of fun activities. Our job was to look after kids who came from schools for a week and instruct activities and provide them with the best memories for life.
This was magical for me because I went away to the isle of white at the age of 10 with my school and went to a JCA activity site.
I fell in love with our groups instructor, his name was mono because he had a mono brow haha! I always knew this was my dream job, this week away with my school was everything to me, the best time of my life so far.
I wanted to be Mono, my instructor and I knew this at a very young age! And that I did and my nickname was 'Essex' because I'm from Essex and I loved it.
We trained for 3 weeks and passed the course. We celebrated in style at Shrewsbury's Wetherspoons called Monty's, which had music and a dancefloor and we danced all night to all of the dances and moves we had learnt during our training week, what a fabulous life. The people were awesome I didn't want to leave Shrewsbury but that wasn't the case, everyone got divided into teams to be sent to a different site (there was 10 sites at the time).
Me and 14 others got sent to a place called Mill Rythe, this was based in Hayling island near Portsmouth.
This place holds a dear memory in my heart. I met my best friend of 8 years here and the memories I had in this magical place were the best ones yet. They always say your first season is your best and by far it was everything and more!

A few years went by I worked here and there back to Shrewsbury where I ended up staying for 5 years. I worked in every bar known to man and stayed in every place I could find, live in landlord and live out landlords which by far I preferred.
I met a special person in the year of 2014, my first love. A massive hippy! Not for looks but just his mindset! I loved the time I spent in Shrewsbury with him but it was time to change it up again, it was a very difficult time in my life to say the least, it wasnt all sunshine. Heartbreak was a thing but I knew my heart longed to travel further so that's when I applied for in2action! A little company a part of TUI.
I had a face to face Skype interview and that was that! Before I knew it I was saying goodbye to Ryan the hippy and getting a ferry to the training site in the isle of white.
I looked back a lot during this time and there was a sense of regret at the time but now know it was for the best. Ryan didn't want the things I wanted, he was happy enough in Shrewsbury and didn't long to travel like myself. I couldn't hold myself back. I was young, wild and free and had to choose my experiences.
This training course was intense for 3 weeks but this course would enable me to work in Holiday villages, all around Europe. This was something that I was absolutely living for and something I was passing no matter what. This was my dream!
If you're unsure of holiday villages it's an all inclusive family holiday resort that offers tonnes of activities from kids club (where I would be working) to high ropes, body zorbing and lots more activities through the day all the way to entertainment in the evening.
It was a beautiful place for family's to make beautiful memories and what's better than being apart of that.
Training began, it was intense, every day 8:30 am wake up, breakfast, seminars and workshops all day. It was worth it.

The trainers were amazing, enthusiastic, positive and a great ball of energy. Exactly what you needed to be as a kids club rep, everything I was and am as a person!
We had a laugh. I lived in a caravan with 2 beautiful girls and we shared some fabulous moments, unfortunately we all got sent to different destinations but I'm glad I got to experience training with those girls because they were awesome.
The end of training came and everyone got called into the main hall, it was the day everyone got there destination of where they would be going. I didn't mind where I was going. I could have got wherever and still would have been happy. We all waited and waited in anticipation, 'EMMA...Tenerife'
I was stumped! I didn't expect Tenerife!
I had never been before but my my my! What a season, with a free pass for 6 months to Siam park and Lorro park later I was having a blast. My team were more than awesome, my manager was the coolest human and the drunken nights were something. Wow this lifestyle really was for me! I was living my lost childhood. I was absolutely on cloud 9 with these family's and my team.

I met beautiful family's. I remember being on high ropes one morning and seeing the support of a family cheering their kids around the course. So beautiful! Something I had never experienced. High ropes would be my favourite morning because most days I'd she'd a tear at the connection of these wonderful, supportive familys.
6 months went by so quickly, so many great memories. I can't even express the laughter we had. My team and I still have a Facebook group chat from this day and this was in 2016. Friends for life, oh the beautiful memories.

I didn't stop there on my journey with in2action. I got placed next in KOS - Greece.

It wasn't my favourite season, they say your team makes your time there. I had some lovley people in my team but it got outweighed by a few people who wasn't very pleasant and I was completely ready for KOS life to end and move on the next season. Don't get me wrong I made some great memories but there was some bad times too in kids club. It sounds abit mad to say but it was a toxic kids club.
When we put our options in, the top of my list was Cyprus (Paphos area). I got it!

I was so so happy! It was an 8 month long season and again a great time but my manager was something else and I was not a fan. It seemed she would go out of her way to seperate us from our friends, from evenings off to sessions. Some managers can be very unpleasant.
The place was fabulous, I would definitely go back to Paphos for a holiday. There was night life strip called 'bar street'. This was fun, I was a big fan of gas balloons. They cost a bomb but gosh they made me giggle.
For me this was the year of meeting amazing families. Some Im still in contact with to this day.
After Cyprus I was ready to hang my uniform up and I did. But not for long. I missed rep life the moment I got a proper job and a house share back in Essex. I knew there was more to life than this, I've seen it.
I called in2action on the off chance and they offered me KOS, straight away. I said no thank you, I did Kos and as you guys read it wasn't the one, tainted with bad memories. In2action asked me where I would like, I said Spain would be great, they had choice of Ibiza, Menorca, Tenerife or Majorca. - I loved my time in Tenerife so any of those destinations would be perfect. - not that I should even have had a choice because I hung my uniform up. I was lucky because they knew me and liked me, I always knew that.
Within 3 days they had me on a flight to Majorca and I flew out and from there my life had began again.
My team were amazing, supportive caring and wonderful. My team appreciated me, at that point they were 2 month in and they needed a pick me up. - that was me.
The place was stunning, the sea front caught my eye and I had never fallen in love like this, until I did. My Bear.

Here I am on the magical island of Majorca living my best life with my beautiful boyfriend. I knew there was something more when I hung up my uniform on the last day of Cyprus. When you think things are bad, don't give up, keep going and your destiny will fall into place.
Rep life was everything to me. It gave me a chance to live and laugh and meet my friends for life all be it they live all around the UK and I don't see them much but when I do it's happy, all I ever wished for.
My life is a blessing and rep life was my whole heart. I now venture on in Majorca and hope to work back in the hotel I worked in as a rep but just a different role and working for the actual hotel Protur.
When I put in words how much I've loved my life from the age of 18 up, there is not one single regret. Happiness is what I wanted to achieve and happiness is what I've got.
You only have one life so live it. And do you!

Sort:

Gas balloons! :D

Hopefully you'll be doing a job you love on this beautiful island soon!

Hahahaha gas balloons I don't know what state I'd be in at the weekend if I got my hands on them haha!

From what I can remember they are fun!
