I believe that God can create however He chooses to create. There are some problems if you extend out the days in Genesis too long, because so much of creation depends on other parts of it to survive. I believe the word is symbiosis. Without the plants producing oxygen, we could not breath for long. Without humans and animals producing carbon dioxide the plants could not live very long.
