With all due respect, I believe you are asking the wrong question. The better question is "how did we get here?" What are our real origins. If a God made us, we should be hell-bent (pardon the expression) to find out who God is and what (if anything) God requires of us. If there is no god, than it really doesn't matter what you do - you should probably play by society's rules and "stay in the middle of the fairway"... more or less. If there is no God, religion is ridiculous. If there is a God, religion is of the utmost importance. Blessings.
