For all who are guided by the spirit of God, such are the children of God. Romans 8:14
The Holy Spirit is the gift of God par excellence that the believer receives free and that influences his whole existence: "All who are guided by the spirit of God are the children of God" (Rom 8.14); "He who does not have the spirit of Christ does not belong to him" (Rom 8.9). The gift of the spirit appears closely linked to faith and baptism and creates in the baptized a radically new situation. This spirit received "in Our hearts" (Rom 8.15), That is, in the personal depth of man, it is not something static, but it is manifested in all aspects of our life.
Thus the whole life of the Christian is "life in the Spirit" (cf. Rom 8.4), and not "in the flesh", Expression of Saint Paul which designates the whole man as mortal, distant from God and opposed to him, subjected to the lower passions and instincts : "Fornication, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, sorcery, wrath, selfishness, divisions, sectarianism, envy, drunkenness, And such things "(Galatians 5, 20-21). Instead the fruit of the spirit in our life is: "Love, joy, peace, tolerance, kindness, kindness, faith, meekness and self-control" (Galatians 5, 22-23). Let us ask the Lord to be his spirit and not our selfish passions that orient our daily life.
The Holy Spirit is the seal that God has placed upon us. The spirit lives in us and his presence works to transform ourselves to be more like Christ. The spirit helps us to produce the virtues of Christ: love, joy, peace, patience, mercy, self-control, and fidelity. The Spirit intercedes for us when we pray, communicating the thoughts of our hearts when we do not reach the words and fills us with power when we worship. Also the spirit is our security that we are the children of God. His future, his blessings and his grace are ours.
