Islam a Religion of Peace

One third of the world population is Muslim that is about more than two billion. Two billion is something you can not ignore. If Islam was a religion of violence, as most of non-Muslims think, there would be no one left on earth.

This question, that is Islam a religion of peace?, is raised frequently after the attack on twin towers of world trade center though there are no solid proofs that Muslims did it.

(36 vs 64) 64% of Muslims in France believed it could never be justified, 19% believed it could be justified rarely, 10% sometimes, and 6% thought it could be justified often.

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:"He who does not show mercy (to others) will not be shown mercy (by Allah)."

In Quran Allah addresses the Prophet by saying: "And We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to the worlds." [Quran 21:107]

How can someone call Islam a religion of violence when we have been emphasized by our Prophet with the words: "The Most Merciful shows mercy to those who have mercy on others. Show mercy to those on earth, and the One above the heaven will show mercy to you."
