A lot of these interpretations go in the line of:

Writer: "The door was red."
Critic: "Oh, the door is a gateway to your soul, and it's red because you are so concerned about the staggeringly high unemployment rate, and about how the Government is fiddling with gas prices?"
Writer: "THE DOOR WAS FUCKING RED!!!"
