Some storms are unannounced and can catch us unaware. They can spring up without warning. Even when we are expecting a storm it can be more brutal and severe than anticipated. When we find ourselves in a storm we need to have an anchor that will hold fast. I recently read an article titled “8 Steps To Anchoring In A Storm.”The author detailed the things that need to be done. However, as a landlubber, not much of it made sense to me. Still there were two things that stood out. They were
• dive on your anchor
• have anchor faith
To dive your anchor means to dive down and visually inspect your anchor to ensure that it is bedded properly. The last thing you want is to think you are firmly rooted and connected and you are not.
Staying Connected
I have found that it is the daily things that keep us anchored. What are the daily things?
• Daily examine our walk
• Daily take up our cross
• Daily choose to serve
• Daily choose Christ over the things of the world
Otherwise we will slowly drift off. By not spending enough time in His presence and in His word, we can get off course. We will look up and discover that we are out of fellowship. 1 John 2:6 tells us that if we are abiding in Him, we will walk as He walked. When we inspect our walk, does it show that He is our anchor?
The second that stood out in the article was to have anchor faith. The writer of the article suggested that you must understand your anchor system. There are different types of anchors. Some work better than others for the different types of sea beds. He explained that you need to” Find out how your anchor ranks in the world of best setting anchors for the seabed you plan on anchoring in.” He went on to tell a story about some friends of his. They purchased a boat for a trip to the Bahamas. Once they dropped anchor they realized that it was not adequate. They endured sleepless night wondering if their anchor would hold.
Now think back over all of the things that you have experienced in life. Some trials may share similarities. Then there are some that are unique unto themselves in your life. Yet, God has brought you through them all.
There is one anchor that will see us through all the storms and seaports of life; A sure anchor that will hold fast no matter the circumstances.
Not all storms come to disrupt your life. Some come to clear your path.
All of God's children are either in a storm, just come out of a storm or about to go through a storm. Stay encouraged. Storms don't last, resilient people do. #Faith #ThroughTheStorm #BornToWin
"He replied, 'You of little faith, why are you so afraid?' Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" Matt. 8:26-27
