I once made a post about love and hate and talked about how both emotions are intertwined but both of them have different weight. Emotions that are easier to grasp as well as emotions that we strive to embellish. Love tends to be a deliberate and intentional response to life, while hatred seems to be more visceral and unintentional.
We may strive to please God and be nurtured by him but many think that is too much effort, too strenuous and something that takes time and toil. However, something like hatred clouds one's mind and is something that is easier to strive to and attain.
I guess it does also suggest how from our negative actions there will always be a consequence to greet it. Their sacrifice, in this case, was to cause bloodshed and carnage of another entity to hide his own misdeeds.
A really enthralling post @gavvet
