The topic of sexuality is all over the news, on social media, in magazines… you name it!
When it comes to hot topics like this, the information is often inconsistent. Not only that, but we are left unclear as to what people really, truly believe.
While in my teens, I was told by society that “everyone” was sexually active. But in reality, statistics showed more teens were keeping their virginity than freely acting on hormonal urges.
That was *ahem* a while ago.
Now, the debate isn’t abstinence vs. an active sex life. We now are in the realm of sexual identity- a much more complex topic than either saying yes or no to sex.
On one hand, we hear the message of gender sameness being blasted loud and clear.
Children are being taught in schools that there are no “boy colors” or “girl colors.” Stores are talking about removing gender labels on clothing and toys. Some men are dressing in feminine colors with [albeit subtle] floral design and some women are dressing in masculine attire. Women blatantly emasculate men with looks, words and actions. And men are pushing their responsibilities onto women while chucking chivalry to the wayside.“We are the same,” is the general message they’re shouting. They have the concept that men and women are interchangeable; it doesn’t matter what your body looks like, or what traditional ways of thinking tell you, there’s no difference between men and women. And if “old fashioned people” dare to remind others of the distinction between genders, labels such as bigot, non-tolerant and judgmental come into play.
But on the other hand, we hear the message of gender distinction being blasted just as loud and clear.
If men and women truly are the same, like society claims, then why is there a section of the population who seek out sex change surgeries? And why does another portion of society call them a hero for claiming they identify themselves as a woman rather than a man? Or vice versa.By current standards, aren’t we supposed to be the same and interchangeable? If we are, indeed, all the same, how can a person identify so strongly with a particular gender that they are willing to radically alter their body? Now, I have been told I can sniff out contradictions and inconsistencies like a hound dog sniffing out a squirrel. But surely I’m not the only one asking how these concepts fit together, am I?
The crux of the problem is confusion.
Confusion is ravaging our world and it is the perfect breeding ground for conflict, contradiction and controversy. As a result, some of us have lost sight of what is truth and are merely arguing a point of view. Confusion has a way of permeating humanity, spreading from one person to another until we all find ourselves striving for truth, a meaningful life and a sense of knowing who we are really meant to be.
Contrary to popular belief, there’s only one source of truth, life and identity. And that’s Jesus.
A portion of us have embraced this reality and are finding freedom from confusion by following the guidelines written in the Bible. But there are others who are still out there searching. And while searching, many are living according to their feelings because they haven’t grasped the concept that a loving God would place boundaries on us for our own good.In the middle of chaos and confusion, let’s band together and lovingly, gracefully lead others to the truth. It would help everyone to put away harsh judgment, church lingo, trite answers and eyes that are blind to pain. Instead, let’s choose to speak the truth in love. Let’s speak in a way that avoids “quick fixes” and the assumption that confusion is easily unraveled.Above all, let’s stop closing our eyes and turning deaf ears to the cries of the brokenhearted; after all, while we are not the same when it comes to gender, we are all the same when it comes to our desperate need for Love. Hi @rebeccamorgan
Again a very good post. Thank you.
Love is just -Taste . And without it , everything is bland , as if it did not look bright ... Very good topic, thanks!
Well said. I'm planning on writing something on this topic soon. People are so lost, misguided and misinformed now days.
Thanks! The confusion is pretty sad, isn't it? Breaks my heart to see so many people who are genuinely looking for love and fulfillment end up more and more confused and farther and farther away from true happiness. BTW, I would appreciate it if you follow me here on Steemit. :)
All this gender stuff is insane. I fell bad for the kids who have to grow up in this confusing mess.
