The big problem comes at recognizing manipulation. Sometimes it's very hard! I've seen some long strategies in order to get me to do something, and when I look back, it was not obvious at all! Sometimes you think you could've stopped it and blame yourself, but other times it's just one big blob of smart moves that pull you in like a pig into the slaughterhouse, and it's inevitable.
It's so sad to have this happen to you.
It's true! Recognizing you are in that situation and then accepting it is hard. But only once that is done can we make a change. I guess it only gets easier with experience.
