Christmas homemade? Six tips for a holiday-proof home

hristmas has arrived again this year! Finally we can forget for a few days emails, files of documents and meetings and we can devote ourselves to a little 'healthy relaxation! But ... are we really sure? N Despite their magic, the holidays can be a source of stress when you are having to organize menus, gifts, events, shopping. Stress becomes even greater for those who have to host relatives and friends at home for Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas lunch.

Here are the tips of our partners to better prepare the house for the pleasant "invasion" of the parties.

1. The party of the little ones

There will certainly be some children among your guests: remember to secure valuable ornaments , crystal objects, precious carpets and family heirlooms. Children can become restless and accidentally break or damage one of these beloved objects. Do not ruin Christmas with an unwanted "surprise" ...

2. Going to the bathroom

Do not forget to take care of the bathroom: guests will have to use it several times, given the duration of the lunches and festive dinners! In addition to a thorough cleaning before Christmas ( booked directly on our site ), it is important to leave a feeling of fragrance and freshness . Buy perfumers, potpourri or even fresh flowers to keep a pleasant fragrance in the air. You can also arrange for the guests different towels, perhaps with Christmas colors and embroideries : at the end of the celebrations you will not have to do anything else but throw them in the washing machine!

3. The importance of the table

Surely you want to surprise your guests with a table decorated in detail, but resorting to centritavola, flowers and candles can be useless if tablecloth and napkins are not up to par! Wash them in the washing machine a couple of days before, adding essential oils to citrus or cinnamon , so they will bring the "Christmas" scent throughout the room.

4. Prevention is better than cure

If you particularly care about the upholstery of your sofa, the best advice is: cover it with a Christmas cloth! Not only will you protect it from any drops of wine, crumbs and other food residues, but you will give it a festive look, which will give warmth to the whole room on Christmas day. If you have upholstered chairs or a fabric that could easily get damaged or stained, you will find "festive" solutions to protect those too.

5. The importance of the refrigerator

Let's say the truth: one thing that certainly will not fail in the days of Christmas will be food in abundance! Thoroughly clean the refrigerator, before doing the big party spending, with simple and natural ingredients ( here are our tips ), but above all do not be tempted by promotions and discounts: buy only what you need to cook the set menu, so as not to find yourself with excess food that could go wrong.

6. An eye for silverware

Do you plan to set the table with the cutlery and the "party" dishes? Those classic services that are used only during special occasions, after a year spent in the cupboard, will certainly need to be cleaned! For silver objects get a bucket, cover it with silver paper and fill it with boiling water dissolving 1 kg of salt inside. Immerse cutlery and other items in the mixture and leave for about twenty minutes, then dry it with a clean cloth. You can also try using lemon, beer or another of the tricks listed in this article .

At this point, you can really relax and enjoy a well-deserved break with family, relatives and friends! And do not forget: to clean up after the festivities, book with Helpling!
