My fav Reddit community went private in protest of a new API policy. Now, application owners will need to pay to run their apps, just like on Twitter.
In fact, I believe that the Reddit creator/owner is a Musk sympathizer.
I had to re-apply to be a member, and now I am waiting. I sent the admins of the subreddit a message to express my support.
I don't know if this change will affect HivePosh, as that's the only HIVE app I know to connect to Reddit, but I think it depends on the number of app calls. So, essentially it is becoming the same rubbish as Twitter.
Same happened to a game I used to play. The original dev sold it because he didn't have the time to run it alone, and the new owners decided they didn't get enough money from the players, so they started charging for API use. The people building 3rd party apps and websites with stats and tools then either killed their tools or asked their users to pay. An efficient way to get users to leave. And I guess with fewer users it's cheaper to run the game, eh?
