I always do my own repairs on my surfboards and related equipment, Completely over engineered, but sure to be stronger than when I started. My materials of choice are epoxy and carbon composites and I recycle whenever I can.
One such recycling is a filler I make by sanding down any carbon off cuts, left over from paddle shaft adjustments. Mix this up with some thick chemical resistant epoxy I discovered by luck one day, and you have one very hard and durable filler tough enough for most jobs.
When I broke my treasured Quickblade VDrive, I found myself shattered just like the carbon shaft I had in front of me. But more so because it was a gift from my Wife. Long story short, a carbon Kevlar wrap and my trick carbon epoxy filler and both me and my Quickblade are back in the game.
All that’s left is a quick sand and it’s Strong like Lion!
Good work !
