There are so many great tracks released on a constant basis out there that it's difficult to pinpoint one in particular so the easiest way for me to choose one for this piece of writing is due to what is bumpin in my head as I am writing in the present continuous. I have just been turned onto the Hip Hop artist ' C.A.M' by listening to a monthly UK Hip Hop Radio Show called ' Suspect Packages ' that has been in operation for 18 years now and which I also listen to every month.
His track named ' Self Reflections ' in particular caught my attention and due to not instantly knowing what the tracks name was I searched on the net and found it like a pearl in a river then opened it up and basked in its beauty.
You see ' Self Reflections' is a cutting example of 'No Frills ' Straight, Authentic, Pure Hip Hop, encompassing a head nodding, thought provoking beat complete with tight cuts and intelligent unpretentious well -crafted ryhmes that flow well with the emcee C.A.M keeping his style true to himself.
The U.K has an immense amount of talent in Hip Hop that has now gone beyond any idea of comparing to Hip Hop from other nations notably the US.
I also feel that the UK in many ways keeps the engines of ' Boom Bap ' grinding alongside other Hip Hop derived subcultures and does not always follow modern day trends, that by no means are anything to belittle but without compromising itself and dong what it just wants to do in the face of a vastly changing culture.
C.A.M himself is an artist hailing from Camden in London and has a number of releases worth checking out if you feel the need to do so. Also I have included two extra links of his EP and his actual freestyling on the above mentioned radio show.
Enjoy!
