So today decided to post something different. We gonna be cooking and my recipes today involve bananas.
I did not know how bananas could be used in many different rather than just a fruit. It can be roasted on the fire, usedd as potatoes in stews, making French fries, sweets and a whole lot more.
so most of these recipes using nearly ripe bananas meaning those that are not yet yellow, still green but are near the ripping stage.
I have find it easy to just substitute potatoes if I cannot find any with bananas.
- Bananas can be used as potatoes.
you can fry them like how we fry potatoes to make french fries. so peel the skin of the unripe banana and slice them into strips. After that you can deep fry them and there you have your fries.
Or while making your stew, you slice them into circles or squares or cubes,just the way you like it and add to the stew and let it simmer unless cooked.Believe you me the taste is just like that of a potato.
- They can be used as source of starch during braai
Ever wonder that one could grill unripe bananas especially during a braai. You take the unripe bananas, you do not peel of the skin but you grill them in the over or put them on hot ash or coal as we do with meat and few them until the skin start to turn black and you remove them. Wait until they cool done and you peel.. mmmh yummie
- A great dessert.
Even eaten frozen chocolate on a banana. You should try it.Now here you use a ripe banana but not too ripe though.
You cot them with melted chocolate.You freeze them and them after sometime you can eat them.Better try it now.
- they can be dried as a way of preserving them and eat later when you run out of fresh ones.
