Want to make a fancy dessert, but don’t want to break the bank ?
So I tried these for the first time, I have to say they were a hit. So light and fluffy not over poweringly sweet, just right. There are many ways to make these, but I’m going to show you how my family taught me to make them.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs whites at room temperature
- 1/2 of water that you will be boiling
- 1/8 teaspoon of cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 cup of sugar
- parchment paper
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla (good quality)
- Candy thermometer
Directions
Set your oven at 200° you will be baking your treats for two hours.
Beat your egg whites in an electric mixer until you reach soft peaks start incorporating the cream of tartar. Once the peaks or Steve stop beating and set aside. In a pot boil your half a couple water and add the 1 1/2 cup of sugar bring it to a boil and take your candy thermometer and turn up the heat until it reaches 238°F. Now go back to your electric mixer and put it on medium low speed very slowly pour in that syrup mixture into the your egg whites.
Once you pour all that in continue mixing until the egg whites are shiny and cold completely it takes about anywhere between like 10 to 12 minutes. If you’re going to add color to it now’s the time to do it if not take a spatula and put your egg white inside of a piping bag. Take your parchment paper and put it on a baking tray and pipe out small little dollops, they kind a look like little poops LOL. I’m problem in the oven and just wait for your heavenly treat to be ready.
Make sure after an hour you rotate your trays so they evenly bake. Once they’re done take them out and let them fully cool before you try them. Store them in an airtight container and do not refrigerate they should be good for about a week.
