Quote of the Day #87: Detox Your Mind, Body & Contact List!

in #quoteoftheday7 years ago

Sometimes things get to be too much!

When the world is overwhelming you with calls, emails, messages, requests for this and that, social media, family life, work/school/social life, it can be easy to get frustrated and bust out in a panic attack. This is exactly why we all need to step away from the laptop, phablets and computer screens from time to time for a good old fashioned DETOX.

The mind runs the show, it needs a break and his best buddy, your body, needs a little rest once in awhile too. Pushing the physical limits of the human form will only take you so far before you inevitably crash & burn. Sit back in your favorite chair, or at your trusty neighborhood coffee shop and kick around the time playing Candy Crush or just reading a ‘real’ book that you’ve been putting off for a while.

Turn off the electronics, unplug, throw on some sandals and just take a stroll with the only intention of recharging yourself and the batteries that run YOUR life.

Another great thing to do when you are detoxing the crap out of life, is to visit your contact list(s) and get rid of the useless names/numbers wasting space in your life. You all know they are there, and for whatever reasons they are still there, am I right? Get rid of that shit, you will feel more free, I guarantee it. Detox the junk in all aspects of life and then when it is time to plug back in, you will be more productive, have a newfound focus for what truly matters in your social, personal and business life.

Nice thoughts! Thank you!

Thanks and I'm glad you thought it was a nice post @sanevys.

@sandstorm I think some detoxes have value but one needs to be careful about selecting which program you will follow. Some are falsely advertised and infact could be harmful. THIS however, what you have mentioned, is something far simpler but something that many people sadly overlook. Nice post! :)

Thanks a lot @ck-cake, great comment! :)
Good advice on being aware about detox programs too, the wrong one can really be harmful, thanks for mentioning that!

Thank you for this @sandstorm. I would add some home declutter also: throwing away or donating things you haven't used in the last year. It can really make a difference to your wellbeing :)

That's a really great tip to add-on to this @life-and-travel. Thanks for sharing and for the nice comment 😄

I am very guilty of being on my phone or laptop all the time... Maybe I need to take a leaf out of your book and go for a nice walk and leave the gadgets at home :) Thanks for sharing!

It's always good to get out and grab some fresh air if possible. Thanks for the comment @laurenkavanagh :)

What a great post @sandstorm. We all need this once in a while. I just upvoted and resteemed. More people need to see this

Thanks a lot @sirpaul, that's really cool of you. I'm glad you liked the post :)

Some times you gotta flush those haters out, shake those haters off, and swipe those haters left.

Sometimes I call them just to say 'Hi' and then delete 'em LOL

I think it is really important to have a "digital detox" every now and then. We all literally live with our faces stuck in our mobile phones or laptops.

Love that quote!

Isn't that the truth @jaynie! Haha
Unplugging the devices and interacting in the real world will help us all, the computers and phones will still be there to dive back in to when we need our fix!

Thanks for sharing. But you can also detox yourself by doing meditation everyday for 5-10 mins. It will refresh your mind and your concentration also increases.
You can also reduce work stress by playing video games, especially for those who don't have an habit of reading book.

Great suggestions @kryptokiri, thanks for sharing :)

Upvoted and also resteemed :)
