Theodor Heuss

Theodor Heuss was a German political scientist, journalist and active liberal politician. From 1949 to 1959 he was the first Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Theodor-Heuss Foundation, named after him, annually awards the Theodor-Heuss Prize and a medal for civic initiative and civil courage.
In 1963 the planning of an educational institution with his name began, which was opened four years later. In 1984 the Archive of Liberalism was built there, which also contains letters and documents from Heuss.

Theodor Heuss war ein deutscher Politikwissenschaftler, Journalist und aktiver liberaler Politiker. Von 1949 bis 1959 war er der erste Bundespräsident der Bundesrepublik deutschland.
Die nach ihm benannte Theodor-Heuss Stiftung vergibt jährlich den Theodor- Heuss Preis und eine Medaille für bürgerschaftliche Initiative und Zivilcourage.
1963 begann die Planung einer Bildungsstätte mit seinem Namen, welche vier Jahre später eröffnet wurde. 1984 wurde dort das Archiv des Liberalismus angebaut, welches auch über Briefe und Dokumente von Heuss verfügt.
