My interpretation is no matter what happens or what people do or say to you, what you think about yourself is what matters and not what others think. I believe if you have a healthy self-esteem and you are confident about yourself, nobody what people think about you is not important.
At times, people transfer their own fears, sorrow, regret and aggression to us in a bid to punish us or make us feel bad or inferior
That's my interpretation.
Completely, in my opinion. It is true that emotions are irrational and not something you can control, but if you believe in yourself and are comfortable with who you are (flaws and weaknesses included) there’s nothing anyone can say that will make you feel inferior, because you will be at peace with your own limitations already.
Then again We all have our areas of insecurity but we can work on them. No one can make you feel inferior if you think and believe that you are not inferior.
Thinking and believing we are not inferior makes it so. And no one can make us feel inferior unless we agree with them. Our agreement is our consent. It is all in your head.

My understanding of this quote is pretty broad, because i read about something similar in John C. Maxwell's sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. It talked about not allowing circumstances to affect ones feeling or reaction. "This person makes me mad" NO you allowed the person to, you gave the person permission to.
In conclusion, what this is saying is that we have a huge say in the way we feel or react to things.
Now inferiority is a state if mind... Everything someone do in life, emotionally and psychologically deals with the state of mind the person has developed and nutured over time...our actions are determined by the thought of others in this present time that it has devoured our minds of the will power to stand on its own and make decisions..so when we can't think for ourselves,we can choose for ourselves,can't decide for ourselves,...we tend to look out and want to be like others and when we can't attest to that level..we tend to feel inferior and this isn't meant to be because"no one can get to you except YOU approve it"..that's what generated that amazing quote...no one should make you feel less of a human being ..but that's all up to the YOU!!
Not to write much, the simplest meaning is no one holds the key to your happiness or sadness and never let or be carried away with what people feels or say about you, if someone makes you sad, it's basically because you permit it

In life, we all are responsible for the things that happens to us, nothing happens without our consent, if we treat ourselves with so much respect then others will do the same. If we feel good about ourselves, then nobody can make us feel otherwise cos indeed no one can make you feel inferior without your consent
