They keep making crap because WE signal we want crap. They make crap because WE don't take the time or the effort to take something that already exist and FIX it if it's broken. If something breaks, we chuck it out and go get another. WE are the problem, not the manufacturers. WE buy the cheap shitty crap that keeps "economic growth" alive. Obviously not everything can be fixed, but a lot of stuff can. When IKEA alone holds a 40% market share in the furniture market in one of the absolute richest countries in the world, WE as the inhabitants of this country signal we WANT cheap shitty crap products. I'm sorry, but we are the problem. Me included. :)
