Pimp Your Post Thursday Report #6B -- Evening Report From Nov. 23rd PYPT

in #pypt7 years ago

Since last week’s report was so long with all the posts shared at the two sessions, I’ve split this week’s post into two — morning and evening reports. Hope this makes for a more leisurely read for you.

If you haven’t seen the morning session, just catch up right here.

I shared some remarks about both sessions there, so you may want to take a quick peek.

Here are the posts that were shared in the evening.

There's A Hole In My Doggo

@johnkingwriter aka RatBastard led off the evening session. He shared with us the story of his labradoodle’s injury and getting him fixed up. It’s tagged fiction by mistake, it is a true story. Nicely written.

Happy Thanksgiving, from a Brit.

Even though Thanksgiving is a North American aka Canadian and American holiday that isn’t celebrated in other parts of the world, @gmuxx got into the spirit of the holiday and shared about what he is thankful for.

Oh, in case you didn’t know, @gmuxx is a Brit and Canada had their Thanksgiving in October.

We the People, for Net Neutrality

I was scrolling through the chat log and discovered I’d missed this post from the morning.

Saipan Damashii asked to present this post by his friend @causanova late in the morning session. The post is very well written by a newer Steemian about the issue of net neutrality and the pending reversal of its protection in the US. @causanova provides a letter he suggests Americans can send to their representatives.

The "Ignoring My Own Advice Vlog"

Brand new to Steemit @shezsheikh joined us for PYPT and shared this post he wrote on his third day on the platform. His vlog covers a lot of material, nicely presented and interesting. It’s about 15 minutes long. Time enough to enjoy a coffee or tea or .. Well you know.

Ethereum surpases the $400 barrier to hit an all-time high

@andrekweku presented is post about Ethereum surpassing its all time high after breaking through the $400 barrier. With all eyes on bitcoin’s latest breakout .. Not too many had noticed Ethereum.

Snek Vlog #13 Happy Thanksgiving A day too early!

Okay so, I finally made the connection between why @poeticsnake also uses the name Snekky, it’s her alter ego in her vlog. In her Wednesday vlog Snekky picks up the Thanksgiving spirit and posted about what she’s thankful for, including condoms. Umm, you need to watch the vlog to get that :)

Rhoda Goes Exploring

@molovelly presented this post of @heyitsrhoda as she shared her adventures at Mo’s parents place. @heyitsrhoda did some delightful exploring while the humans visited.

Happy Thanksgiving from KAOZ - My Expression of Gratitude, Immortalized on the STEEM Blockchain

@rodeo670 aka SaipanDamashii presented this post expressing what he’s thankful for, big and small, on and off the blockchain. He closed out with a video of him singing. Nice work Saipan.

Celebrate with Me My Fellow Steemians. I clock A Month In The Steemit Community. Aiming To Acheive More For the Growth Of Steemit On My #Promo-Steem South Africa + #Introduction

@seyiodus is from South Africa and on very late at night to share with us. She posted about her first month on Steemit and included some details about herself and her life. Very nice.

#INSPIRATION: That one moment...

@jakemore shared about time when he felt overwhelmed with all that was coming at him. He was proud of himself for being able to switch his focus to a more helpful positive perspective. Good for him.

The Demon

@stephanus shared his pen and pencil drawing. I love when artists show their process like he did in this post.

Pre-Time : No More I Found A Similar Post..... Whoops.....- @Cheetah Internal Integration

@anaman shared his post he did to utopian.io suggesting a feature in an editor which can determine how original a post is before it is posted and @cheetah gets a chance to catch unoriginal work.

Ghanaian Health Care Face lift

@yawgh shared with us his report on the health care system in Ghana going paperless which will save a lot of money and make the system more efficient. Nice progress for them.

APPRECIATING AN UPCOMING GREAT YOUNG FEMALE IN GHANA

@jeeandmee aka Sessie shared her post about women of influence starting off with some internationally known women before introducing a woman from her own country who is becoming a role model for young girls and promises to continue to be a force for good. @jeeandmee has introduced her to Steemit and will be helping to introduce more to the platform.

@moeknows Broke Haiku Contest 5 plus last week's winner

@moeknows presented using text and was wise enough to have the presentation text prepared in advanced. He shared a post about his haiku contest and how to enter. Last time it ran he had two entries, would be nice to see more entries.

The Wrong Expectations

@bitcoinparadise is a more established member of Steemit and first time visitor to PYPT. I was happy to have him share one of his posts, I think diversity of experience helps everyone.

In a very well written post @bitcoinparadise talks about user expectations vs actual user experience on Steemit. They often don’t match with new people arriving and expecting to be able to just post and make money. It doesn’t work that way, there are ways to develop a solid standing on the platform but it takes time and work.

I highly recommend reading this post.

ColorChallenge ThursdayGreen - Lac Vert de Central Park / Green Central Park Lake

@heroic15397 did his first time share on PYPT with his post from Thursday Green Challenge. While @heroic15397 hails from Quebec, the locale for the photos he took is the Bow Bridge in Central Park, New York City. I was really impressed with the level of greens in the photo, even the bridge had tones of green.

The Steem Blockchain Needs Curators

@steemitgraven29 wasn’t expecting to make it onto PYPT as he was busy with family obligations but he got in near the end. That’s dedications @steemitgraven29. He shared with us his post on the topic of curation and the importance of readers of the content which is produced on the site.

He has some interesting suggestions of how people who come to read more than create could benefit on the platform. Definitely worth reading and considering.

[FICTION CONTEST] One Day in 2040 - Announcement of Winners

Remember the post in the morning was an entry for @pennsif’s One Day in 2040 contest? Well, this post is the results of the contest. The post this morning was great so I didn’t envy @pennsif the job of judging the seventeen entries he had. Looking forward to reading the winning posts.

Thinking Like a Whale

@rhondak managed to get in to visit us in PYPT and shared this post. It’s a very well thought out post exploring not only the flagging controversy that blew up last weekend but trying to see the evolution of the platform from a whale’s perspective. Sometimes we need to try to see from the other side of the coin and @rhondak has done a great job here.

20 steem communities to consider. Communities are super important to your success at getting stuff done around here.

@sircork finished this post just before I started writing up the report from yesterday’s PYPT and I decided to include it here as we often talk about discord communities that people can join during PYPT and he’s done a great list here.

Conclusion for Today

So, a total of 37 posts were shared today, 38 if I include the late entry from @sircork. A great range of posts. There was one person who came into the text channel, was twice asked to come into the voice chat which is pretty much necessary to know what is going on and then dropped his post into the text channel without interacting or waiting his turn. I didn’t include the post.

I’m pretty easy going and flexible about what gets shared but I think there are times the line needs to be drawn and that was one of them. PYPT is about networking and getting to know others, hit and run presenting is not within that concept.

Don’t forget, you can visit the Steemit Ramble discord at anytime. When you share the post of another Steemizen in the nominate-someones-post channel you will get access to another channel nominate-your-post. I regularly review those two channels for potential posts to share in the Steemit Ramble.

If you are two busy to share, there is a post promotion channel. I might look in there some day. Steemit is about sharing and building community.
