Liliana Caldini y Yo
En enero de 1971 yo todavía no fumaba. Me faltaba un año justo, pero todo el mundo había visto la publicidad de Chesterfield donde la joven Liliana Caldini, en la soledad de su cuarto, escuchaba "Tiritando", el flamante éxito del verano en un tocadiscos Wincofón.
Ese comercial fue el lanzamiento de Liliana como modelo y el de Donald Mc Cluskey como cantante solista.
Y un día de enero de 1971 Liliana Caldini fue a Miramar. Un gentío la seguía por las playas. Era, sin dudas, la chica más linda y popular de Argentina.
Salía en todas las tapas de revistas y agotaba su edición. Estaba en el imaginario de todas las chicas y chicos. Ellas querían ser como Liliana y ellos, tenerla como novia.
Y en ese enjambre de cholulos estaba yo, con mis doce años y un físico parecido a un alambre estirado, detrás de los pasos de Liliana.
La cosa se empezaba desmadrar cuando el patio del Balneario Parquemar se llenó de gente y la pobre Liliana con su equipo de promoción, se tuvo que refugiar adentro de un toldo.
Tuve un plan.
Conté las carpas y me fui hasta el patio de atrás donde en la séptima carpa, levantando un poco la lona verde, vi una mano femenina con el típico anillo de plata de Antonio Belgiorno con las iniciales LC.
Estiré mi mano hasta tomar la de Liliana. ¡Wow!
Nada más idílico para un joven de 12 años que estar de la mano con Liliana Caldini, en una playa junto al mar.

In January 1971 I didn't smoke yet. I was just a year away of lihting my first cigarette, but everyone had seen the Chesterfield advertisement in which the young Liliana Caldini, in the solitude of her bedroom, listened to "Tiritando," the brand-new summer hit on her "Wincofón" record player.
That commercial was the launch of Liliana as a model and of Donald McCluskey as a solo singer.
And one summer day, in January 1971, Liliana Caldini went to Miramar. A crowd followed her along the beach. She was, without a doubt, the prettiest and most popular girl in Argentina.
She appeared on all the covers of magazines. She was in the imagination of all girls and boys. Girls wanted to be like Liliana and the boys wanted to have her as a girlfriend.
And there was I, in that swarm of fans, with twelve years old and a body similar to a stretched wire, behind the footsteps of Liliana.
Things started to get out of hand when the Parquemar Spa patio filled with people and poor Liliana with her promotional team had to take refuge inside a beach tent.
I had a plan.
I counted the tents and went to the backyard where in the seventh tent, lifting the green tarp a little, I saw a female hand with the typical Antonio Belgiorno silver ring with LC initials on.
I reached out and took Liliana's hand.
Wow!
Nothing more idyllic for a 12-year-old than to be holding hands with Liliana Caldini, on a beach by the sea.
