Few months ago someone from the Board of Malaysian Architects (LAM) contacted me if i want to contribute some of my sketches to be featured in the board's merchandise. I was more than happy to get noticed by the most important organization in my own field and it could never be any better for me.
Latest edition of Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) (Board of Malaysian Architects) executive log book, with sketches in the cover inlay by yours truly. Im honoured. :)
"Sometimes, it aint about the big grand achievement that really matters, all you need is the smallest things at the right place, at the right time."
Time and space that matters.
We have to admit and understands that not everyone appreciates what we appreciate, and vice versa. Some big things for you might be nothing for other. We dont even have to look too far comparing yourself with others, you can just look inside our own mind. Its funny sometimes when i start to think about how we perceive what matters and whats not in our daily life that seems to change very rapidly in a particular period of time. Some times we need something more than any other time. People do change, im not just referring to how people can become different when they are growing older or wiser, but also on how we can really like something today, and tomorrow you no longer feel anything towards it.
Context.
To talk about feelings, moods and emotions, the complexity of how they work might be very complex to understand but im really sure they are some of the biggest factors affecting our perception towards things. These factors are what i understand as i call the ‘context’ or the position of one’s soul against the information perceived. Different context will process a cognition process differently with others. These context can be identified as a final mixture of different feelings, moods, emotions that made up the unique ‘position’ one are in. The way we see things are greatly effected by the state that we are in at the time we are processing the information we are perceiving.
Contrast.
Inevitable, our minds by nature will compare and contrast when evaluating our surrounding to a point that sometimes we can only see or feel something, just because the opposite of it exists. For instance, shadow is when there are existence of light, and we can only identify theres lights when we have a shadow. Another example for this matter is when a situation is evaluated as cold or hot, it is all depending to the context. 16 degree celsius i is seen as a cold room temperature if you are evaluating in the context of the hot and humid all year long Malaysia, but if you put it in the context of winter in Russia perhaps, it is considered hot comparing to their average below -10 degree celsius temperature.
Scale.
A contrast cognition would also lead towards informing the scale of the perceived matters in which ultimately informs a certain feeling that define your context. The scale im talking about does not just applied to scale in size, but also scale in the value; importance and preferences. An example i can think of is on the level of our excitement when competing in a race; the appreciation level can be varies determined by the context of the competitor. One person will only feels happy when they win a first place place as he always gets second place, but its totally a different feeling when someone who never actually won the race there, and yet that time he achieve third place and he felt an absolute joy breaking his own record.
What im trying to prove here is that the meanings and values of our perception is highly dependent on the time and space that we are experiencing. Whatever good or bad one thing is, it always depends on the state that we are. This is where ‘money cant buy love’ applied.
