Fear is one of the strongest and most dangerous emotional responses we have. Fear often causes people to sabotage their own efforts, even when they sincerely want to become more successful. Fear can act as both a protective and destructive force depending on the situation.
Protective fear can help us avoid dangerous situations, or to get ready to the face the problems whereas destructive fear causes an overwhelming fear of failure, so people refuse to take risks because they may have to endure unpleasant outcomes which is not real. Either way, fear is strong enough to paralyze people whether the things they fear are real or imagined.
Wilson, author of the book 'Don't Panic' says "Phobias involve the experience of persistent fear that is excessive and unreasonable, are cued when a person approaches a particular situation or object, or even anticipates the approach of it, and they understand the fear they will experience as a result of that situation will be unreasonable and excessive."
People develop specific fears as a result of learning. This has been studied in psychology as fear conditioning: Watson, one of the pioneers of psychology proved it in his experiment in 1920, observing a child with an irrational fear of dogs. In this study, an 11-month-old boy was conditioned to fear a white rat in the laboratory. The fear became generalized to include other white, furry objects, such as a rabbit, dog, and even a ball of cotton.
Sometimes in the real world, fear can be acquired by a frightening traumatic accident. For example, if a person falls into a river and struggles to get out, he or she may develop a fear of water (aqua phobia)
The key to distinguishing a fear from a phobia is that while most people get the shivering when they are asked to address a group of audience, people suffering from stage phobia, the fear of public addressing sometimes causes psychological problems.

Fear of flying has become a well-recognized phobia, and since the 9/11 American towers episode. An executive of a software company has terrified of fear of flying. His job demands him to travel a lot. For days before every trip, he used to suffer uneasiness in his stomach and a feeling of anxiety that won't go away. On the day of the flight, he used to develop severe head ache, fast heartbeat etc. his fear of flying had gotten so bad that he finally left the job and joined in a small company for a meagre salary. After practicing few techniques he could overcome the fear of flying and now he is a global marketing manager, and spends most of his time in the air.

Common phobias and fears

Most of these fears and phobias are meaningless and irrational,
but sometimes irresistible until we learn desensitization techniques.

Symptoms of fears

Sometime the symptoms are terrifying and frightening like difficulty in breathing, feeling like intense need to escape, trembling and shivering, chest pain, churning in the stomach, nonstop sweating, feeling like losing balance in body etc.
Surprisingly, all these symptoms can be controlled through positive mental suggestions as fear is not an organic disease; it is only a psychosomatic disorder. One of these techniques will help you to overcome the fears.
How to overcome fears and phobias

'Be bold and fearless and the road will be clear, it is the faith that makes a lion of a man. '
Swamy Vivekananda

Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated Out. Although fear is learned, the attitude to fear is part of human behaviour. Many studies have found that certain fears like animals and strange objects are common than others. This phenomenon is known as mental preparedness or self-conditioning, because early humans were quick to fear in dangerous situations.

De-sensitization

If you're afraid of a cockroach, don't start by catching a bunch of cockroaches. Remind yourself it's an irrational phobia and it is not a dangerous creature, on the other hand in some of the eastern countries they love to eat cockroach fry. Firstly look at the picture of a cockroach and touch it, then look at the dead cockroaches. As you gain confidence working through each stage of proving to yourself that you can control your phobia, it will diminish until you no longer feel it as dangerous. For example you have the fear of spider, create the steps needed to reach to get rid of the fear of spider as follows:
Step 1: Look at the picture of a spider.
Step 2: Hold the plastic toy that resembles a spider.
Step 3: Look at a real spider from a distance.
Step 4: Go close to the spider.
Step 5: Tell yourself that the spider is not cruel animal
Step 6: Even if you touch it, know that the poor creature skips away
Step 7: Touch it with a matchstick or an object with love
Step 8: The spider is your friend now

Take safety measures

If the fear is really frightening find a way to overcome by taking safety steps. For example, if a student is terrified of examinations; he can find some safety measures for proper study planning, preparation and get ready to write examinations confidently. A most important rule here is not to panic. Just act cool and assure yourself that as long as you follow the safety guidelines, your fear is harmless and it is nothing to be afraid of.

This is not something related to computer language. This is a different technique that helps to overcome fear.
The first W is 'What Went Wrong'.
Second W is 'What Will Work'.
Third W is 'Why should 1 fear'.
Fear is an emotional state of anxiety, which typically occurs without any certain or immediate external threat. Panic occurs when one is intimidated of a certain thing that reminds them of their fear and experiencing an alarm response there are many physiological changes in the body such as accelerating the heart rate, dilating the blood vessels, and increasing muscle tension and breathing rate.

At this stage think in a realistic way, ask yourself certain questions like why should I have fear? Is this really very dangerous? Is there any solution to overcome this fear? If I proceed further what will happen? These simple questions will prompt you to take a daring decision. Yoga, Relaxation, and other meditation exercises will help you to develop introspection.

In fact all of us have a fear or phobia, which is not a very serious and crippling one. In our childhood we too had fears and phobias which we could overcome by modelling our parents or by the help provided by the teachers and others.
My dear young friends believe in yourself and realize the fact that all the fears and phobias are self- acquired and therefore self-cured.

Sort:

Fear is a normal reaction, but when this is transformed into a phobia, a specialized intervention is required

yeah but some fears are not natural. due to others influence or some incidents we see with our eyes, some fears are formed and they may turn into phobia. we observe children don't have fear to do any thing.
