The protests in Venezuela in 2017, dubbed by the Venezuelan Spring or the Rebellion of April, were a wave of national protests against President Nicolás Maduro caused by the Venezuelan institutional crisis of 2017 and other political events related to to the political conflict in that country in the preceding months, mainly after the parliamentary elections of 2015.

The constitutional crisis of Venezuela in 2017 was caused by the "breaking of the constitutional thread" in that country, as a result of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) dictating the decision 156 by which it attributes to itself the functions of the Assembly National (AN) and extended the powers of President Nicolás Maduro, which led to a new wave of protests. At the time of sentencing, the reaction of the National Assembly, as well as of several organizations in the region, was mostly negative. Some described these actions as a "self-coup d'etat" and that the AN was dissolving, which provoked protests in Caracas and other cities in the country.
