The Real Nature of Propoganda

in #propaganda6 years ago

The propaganda that you and I and probably everyone we know have been subjected to since WWII. i.e. Nazis = Bad, v US, UK, USSR = Good. Probably most Westerners would find it hard to live with themselves if they didn't believe this to be the case.

However if we take a closer unbiased look at the history we will find that quite the opposite is true.

I know that the natural reaction of most westerners to this statement is horror and disbelief since they’re so absolutely certain that they were on the right side and doing the right thing by fighting and destroying the Nazis.

We can't even imagine the possibility that we might have been wrong, and we truly believe that such notions are ridiculous and that anyone who even suggests such a thing must be bad or evil or out to cause trouble.

Most people don't quite understand what propaganda is or how it works and have absolutely no way of knowing or recognizing when, how and to what degree they themselves have been propagandized.

Propagandization is very similar to hypnotization in that when you've been hypnotized you are not aware of the fact that you've been hypnotized and you truly believe whatever you've been hypnotized to believe. The main difference being that hypnotization usually only last for a limited time, whereas Propagandization can(and usually does) last a lifetime.

So for instance, If you've been propagandized into believing that the Nazis were evil then you won't be aware of the fact that you've been propagandized into this belief (just like hypnotism) and will naturally assume that you have come to this belief of your own accord, presumably based on facts which supposedly everybody knows.

So knowing this it behooves us all to reexamine what we consider to be our fundamental beliefs and to test them against hard provable facts no matter how improbable they might first appear.

Only then can we come to appreciate the degree to which we've been propagandized, and come to the awareness that most of our beliefs are not in fact our own, bur rather have been programed into us by stealth at the hands of nefarious agents who don't have our best interests at heart.

Sort:

Yes, propaganda is so much a part of our history and current events, true reality is very difficult to sort out.
