Today's coin reveal post features the 1oz .999 Silver 2011 Australian Kangaroo Series Coin struck by the Royal Australian Mint.
My recent posts have been dominated by coins that have been issued by the Perth Mint. Coins from the Perth Mint to make up the predominance of my silver stack, so naturally most of my coin posts would feature their coins.
Another very well known mint in Australia is the Royal Australian Mint. The Royal Australian Mint (RAM) produce very high quality proof coins. The RAM is not as popular and well known globally as the Perth Mint is, but for those have been collecting for some time will know that the RAM have produced some stunning coins over the years, some of which are extremely collectible and demand a premium way over their silver wieght.
1. Coin Story
There are number of reasons why I do not have as many RAM coins as I do Perth Mint coins. The first reason being that they do not produce as many coins as Perth Mint do. Secondly, most of the coins they produce are high quality, proof coins that are released with quite a high premium.
The dedicated Royal Australian Mint fans do not seem to be put off by the high premiums and they loyally purchase each coin from a specific series as they come out. I have only bought directly from the RAM a couple times in the past, most of the RAM coins I have in my collection, including this one have been bought on the secondary market.
The Allied Rock Wallaby
The Allied Rock Wallaby is commonly seen in the north east of Queensland on nearby Palm Island or Magnetic Island. They are very deft in their movement from rock to rock as they search for food that includes grasses, fruits, seeds and flowers.
During the autumn months the rock wallaby sheds its dark brown fur to reveal a lighter coat that provides for a more effective camouflage among the grasses and rocks of their natural habitat.
2. Coin Packaging
These coins are packaged in individual sealed plastic capsules. Each coin is protected by the black clam shell case. On the outside of the clam case is the Australian Coat of Arms in silver print with the words "Australian Government" and "Royal Australian Mint".
The claim shell case is housed in brown cardboard box with a rocky outcrop from the Australian Outback in the background. In the foreground is a print of the reverse design of the coin featuring two Allied Rock Wallabies.
The words "2011 KANGAROO SERIES", "One Dollar" and "Silver Proof Coin" are printed below the image of the coin.
3. Coin Details
a. Mintage
The mintage of this coin was 20,000 coins. Each of the coins were issued as legal tender under the authority of the Australian Government with the denomination of $1 (Australian).

The purity of the coin is .999 fine silver.
